Hi everyone, I launched a site about 14 months ago and it has been doing pretty good thus far for the industry I am in....I have recently (2 weeks ago) done article submissions and social bookmarking, and for the past 3 months I have submitted my site to over 25 high PR directories...I beleive my on-page content is good enough, anyone have any other ideas on SEO for my site...I have also done some link exchanges with sites that are relevant to mine By the way its www.k9stud.com thanks in advance!
[1] Get links with your top keyword(s) in the anchor text. [2] Continue to develop your site with fresh, regularly updated content.
Have you studied the most searched keywords in your niche, to see what your prospects are searching. That way you can optimise your text for keyword phrases.
To 25 dirs submit to lke 500-600 dirs using your keyphrase as anchor text and then you will see some changes
thanks to all of you who have posted, I have been submitting to directories with keywords in my anchor text, and just started to mix it up for other keywords I am optimizing for. Some of the keywords are fairly competitive, such as puppies, dogs for sale, and puppies for sale are just a few. Some days I am on the bottom of the first page but most of the days I am on the top of the second page of Google, I am wondering what else I can do to get me listed consistently in the top 10. I guess I need to keep submitting to more directories
Try doing some PR. Then modify your press release into an article and submit it to various article sites. You could also add a blog to your site and include an RSS feed.
i like your idea regarding a blog...I think that could be a great addition. I currently have RSS feeds for puppies for sale, dogs for sale, etc....I think I am lacking a marketing coordinator to really improve the PR side of it, I think your right, thanks again!
Join Social Bookmarkings... and do promotional advertisements.. Post your site on gumtree.com (a promotional ads site)
i just hired some guy to submit my site to 25 social bookmarking sites thanks for that tip, hopefully i can see an increase in SERPs along with Traffic...the reason why initially I did not think about the blog is because my site is about having members post advertisements of puppies, dogs, etc so my thinking was that it is always going to have fresh content, and also i have each ad having its own dedicated aspx, so now i have about 5,500 plus pages indexed by google
are you sure directory submissions are still important? Because I can't see any of my backlinks from them when I checked via google webmasters and backlinkwatch
I have not checked my google webmaster tools page but i know it definitely helped my SERPs...yahoo seemed to have caught my www.clush.com directory submission, look here, http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/advsearch?p=http://www.k9stud.com&bwm=i&bwmf=u&b=31 Some of those directory submissions are expensive but I think they are definitely worth it!
Google may not show them with the "link:" command but they all count and you should see them in Google webmaster tools.
just to confirm google did pick up my clush and other directory submissions I have done in the webmaster tools If you have the cash I would say to keep on submitting to directories, i hope that does not effect me in a negative way
k9stud, check on this topic forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=398354 they talk about the bad things about posting articles, i think that it would be helpful for you.
I don't know if your site is old but if you have a new website, I can't see my backlinks from directories (I am certain i have been approved by most of those directories). And about paid directories, I don't think it is good for the long term because google want to detect paid links and I think it will be easy to detect paid links in directories.
my site is just over a year old; i dont necessarily agree with you regarding the paid directory submissions, I read somewhere or seen some video by Matt Cutts saying directories are not making you pay to list in their pages but it is a "Review" fee; but we really do not know what their plans will be we just have to hope for the best! I think you are correct regarding the regular "free" directory submissions, I cant find them in my webmaster tools either I was referring to the paid review submissions
your rank is grunt, so be a grunt.....put your head down and pedal up the hill of never ending search indexes that you can add your site to for free. Also check out this interesting bit about linkbating. I have not tried it, but it looks promising, maybe?
