New site launching...need affiliates

I'm going to be launching a new membership site soon (PLR products, software packs, etc.), and I want to get some affiliates lined up in advance.

The upgraded membership costs $19.95/month and pays a 15% commission (rounded up to $3.00) monthly on upgraded referrals.

I'm hoping to launch with a leading team of 15-20 affiliates. Those people will get their first month free (you only need 7 referrals to make your money back anyway).

Finally an affiliate program where you need to pay to join...!! I thought for a new website or product the advertiser would pay or give more incentive for affiliates to join..!! Am I misunderstanding something?

 

Think of it more like a membership that offers incentive for referrals. These are actually quite common, but when they offer free enrollment it's usually as a JV deal with a major marketer.

Here's a bit more on the program:

1. Free members: limited assortment of free PLR products and subscription to the newsletter.

2. Upgraded members: same products as free members, plus access to higher-end PLR products and scripts, plus automatic enrollment in the affiliate program.

I'm offering the first month free for this particular affiliate team. However, if there is substantial movement (say someone brings in 100 upgraded subscribers), I'd say a free lifetime membership could certainly be within the realm of possibility. And of course, if anyone wants to make a flat-out JV deal I'm open to discussion on that as well.

BTW there are tons of affiliate programs without FEES to publishers.

That's true, and if this were a straight affiliate sale asking publishers to put banners on their websites that would likely be the case. But it's also common with membership sites to charge a fee for upgrading, and have that upgraded membership include the affiliate program. Direct Matches and AdlandPro come to mind immediately. Allnetworkers is 100% fee based (no free level), and you can only earn commissions once you have a direct referral.

 

If I were you I would give the first 10-20 people free access.

 

For my affiliate program I am more interested in getting more affiliates rather than how much each one makes me. If I were you I would do something like: Free members have the affiliate program with 10-15% commission and upgraded members get 20-30% commission. That way you will get money from the free members referals and if any of the upgraded members don't have a lot of referals then you cash in.
