Hi I was wondering how big of factor age of a site is for google ? Also is there a link that you can go to tell the age of a site ? Any help would be great. Thanks
i think its a big factor no boubt about it i have had sites sitting with a mfa on there for 2 years and no rankings or clicks and they suddenly get ranked higher after i renew them. website age and website trust are big factors thats why i dont like .info sites no trust there
site age matters, the more is the age the more it get ranked easily but required few good back links....i dont have any certain idea about age link tht you are taking about
You can get a general idea of the age of a site by checking the who is info and by check the internet archive. The archive usually has a copy of a site about a year after it is launched
I wanted to know cause my site is about 8 months old and I wanted to buy a high PR link with age to the site....is this a good idea ?
Yes. In general, it is a good idea to get a link from age-old domains that have a good weight with search engines.
age of the domain is an important factor. I was doing a comparison research for the keyword "broadband" in Google.co.uk and realised that the first result (broadband.co.uk) was there because it´s 11 years old and because the domain is the targeted keyword, as in the rest of the factors is much weaker than the competitors: less content, thousands of less links...
just keep in mind that there is a big difference between the age of a website and the age of a domain, you can always buy a 10 years old domain that has been inactive for the last 10 years but it wont help you much..(well i believe it will help a little bit) the real website age is calculated from the the day that a website was Indexed (cached) by google.
Age definitely matters. In addition to the Internet Archive, Alexa has some stats about how old a web site is.
I definitely belive that Google etc highly values old domains with aged content. It's like a good old friend that you know for a long time already and trust a lot. Thus, anything that goes there "must" be good in the eyes of Google.
Domain age matters a lot. More ages means more trust (in the eyes of Googlebot). The more the domain has, the faster it get ranked by Google. (few good back links required).
