Proud Army Parent

How does it feel to be a mother of a new soldier? I am so proud that I am about to burst! However, My soldier is being shipped off to Kuwait on August 4, 2007.

I feel like I am teetering on top of fence about to fall off of it. I still have all the proud mom feelings, but, now I am scared to death that I will never see my soldier again.

All I can do now is pray that God will keep him safe, and to bring him home to his mother.

Be proud, your son, is doing something he obviously believes in, i wanted so badly to join the army years ago, but i was talked out of it by a girl that i was with for 3 weeks. Pray to God, he is the only one that decides what happens.

    Whats he fighting for?
    1. country
    2. freedom of others
    3. support for troops already there

    just to name a few

On the anniversary of 9/11, my son watched the Fox News Channel and their view of that horrible day as it unfolded. He asked me if that made me mad. I told him that then it made me very angry, but now, I feel sad. Apparently, the school he was attending on 9/11 did not allow the students to watch the coverage of the tragedy. I beleive this is one of the major reasons he became a soldier.

I watched it all unfold as well, it was the very reason i wanted to inlist, its very hard to watch your country get attacked in the way that it was. It was like a sucker punch, to me it was cowardly. I wanted whoever was responcible to pay. And i beleive for the most part they are paying. I just want it all to be over now. But i also understand why we cant just drop everything and leave those areas.

The days of patriots are gone .....

Now it fights for money and for the interests of "the president"

The baddest choice in my opinion being a soldier

    I quote:

"Pain is frightening when it shows its real face, but it's seductive when it comes disguised as sacrifice or self-denial. Or cowardice. However much we may reject it, we human beings always find a way of being with pain, of flirting with it and making it part of our lives."
    - Paulo Coelho, Eleven Minutes.

No, I wouldn't even thinking of giving up the only life that I'm ever going to get, not even for my country. But then, I'm as un-nationalistic as they come...

I don't mean any offense to you - My best wishes to you and your son.

It's just like with the slaves: you pay another slave some money, give him the pride and he'll beat the hell out of the other slaves. I'm sorry but I don't see the point in wars and army. Kids are dying in some 3rd world country and all the army does is fly their jets around. I still think that in the 9/11 event Bin Laden was just a dumy. And don't say I'm wrong cuz' you never had the chance to make billions of dolars in on second, most people would do anything for that...
