Hello, If I buy a banner from a site would it give me the same results as if I would buy a text link from the same site? Thanks
you must look the code of banner link. <a href="url-comes-here"><img src="url-comes-here" alt="your-keyword-comes-here"></a> if the site that you will buy banner link uses this code, it will be the same with text link
what about <a href="url" title="keyword"><img src="banner.jpg" alt="keyword"> I am going to pay a lot of money for that, so it is important for me to get it right...
What do you want to achieve?? Better search engine rankings or more clicks on your ad? You need to give use more details.
Careful on this one, and this go's for all the new guy's as well. Most sites utilize a rotating banner system, run on a Java script. I could be wrong, but to my knowledge, you won't be getting any link juice for this because the site won't have your banner in a 'static' position. Also, another thing when paying for banner advertising - See if you can get a text link somewhere else on there site, like in a content rich area. I've encountered some webmasters that stick their nose up at this idea, but they of all people should know that very few people click on banners anymore. For the price you pay, you should be able to at least get a nice juicy text link. Snobs..... Here's another thought - Page-link-popularity comes into play also. So getting a static link on a home page could turn out better than on some other dummy page, depending on the site. So if you're looking paying for this static link, be sure to check the backlinks of the said page. I only mention the last two because you mentioned you're paying a chunk of money. Be sure you get as much bang for your buck!
hi thanks for your answers - Of course I want to improve my ranking and get more clicks on the same time. The banner that I bought is on a PR7 blog and it will be through all the pages. They don't use javascript so it is a static link. I decide to buy it because I've checked the other banners with the keyword they were using and they were all number 1 or 2 in Google... I will keep you updated
I can understand the purpose of this type of advertisement, you are doing this to improve your Google PR. So I highly recommend you to use Anchor Text instead of Gif or jpg banner but make sure that the blog you are linking is relevent to your website topic and anchor text should be Bold.
The text link is the best for visitor and search engine. Because It's fast loading and the search engine know the grossly description about the link.
Well not quiet exactly, a well designed and attractive ad banner would be more like to invite the user to follow the banner and learn more about whats behind that banner. Anyway, 99% of sites that do offer banner advertising services use a javascript based script to "rotate" banners, and if that's what the advertiser offers to you there will be NO benefit on page ranking. While, a flat HTML code as <a href="URL" title="Title"><img src="IMG" alt="Title" /></a> will perform better in pageranking.
^ Exactly... Most places are worthless, in regards to PR. If you look closely, it will send you to somewhere within their own website first, which basically is a counter for how many clicks the banners get. Makes sure that you see your site as the destination URL at the bottom of the browser when you hover over the banner. If that is correctly pointing to your site, then check for the html in the page to make sure a title is set.
You mentioned that this banner will be getting added to all the pages. Does that include the individual posts? (click on a post title, and it'll look like an individual page) When looking at buying site-wide links, you need to peak at your already existing profile. Google may look down on you if you only have 59 backlinks, and then out of nowhere suddenly get 7,298 links all with the same anchor text/alt-image-data, from a high PR website. It just doesn't look natural. Of course, if you're after the traffic, then who cares. But I'm assuming you're also looking at rankings as well.
