Hi, I have been around for not too long... but i do see many people asking for rep under the 'freebies' section..and I know it's against the rules (right?) may i know what's so good about having many reps? Hope this is in the right thread..I received a warning fr. DP on infraction some times ago, so am posting carefully
more reps..is just a way for others to know..that you are something ;-).. usually more rep menas others liked your posts or contributions here at DP..
really itrader is key, but rep helps also..Rep just says you actually help out and do something to contribute to the forum, not just make random posts..Reps will come naturally, yeah some people do get them in the freebie section, but can't do nothing about that.
Rep generally accumulates over time, as you make posts that are clearly informative and helpful to other DPers. On the flip side, the system is there so that you can express gratitude by giving out rep to posters that you find informative and helpful.
Rep mean, you help other people and if they find it useful, they rep you. I-trader also good. for member reputation on forum.
There is an option "FAQ", you can get a much elaborate and to the point answer over there. Also take care that you do not post stuff which has been discussed over and over again. For this you can do a little search for the topic before posting it. Otherwise, you might get an infraction. Its my personal experience as i am also newbie. Good Luck
Just don't bash George W Bush in this forum or the Bush lovers will keep your rep points down. I have loads of crazy people always giving me negative rep because I tell them that Bush is a terrorist that has ruined the Middle East. I only say that because Bush is a terrorist that has ruined the Middle East. As Dev0115 pointed out i-Trader is a good reflection, and you can also look at when a person joined and do a search on his/her posts for a good idea on what that member is like.
For most people rep is nothing but something of an ego-booster, and consolation that the fact that you have no life is not true
It's not specifically against the rules to ask for rep, no. I always believe it is more meaningful if you don't ask.
I just want the rep for the cool green bars it adds. Screw the "informative" and "trusted member" crap. I just want a nice long green bar over there for decorative purposes. So to answer your question, "what's the good of rep?" My answer: Purely aesthetic
I think itrader is more reliable when it comes to choosing a person to make a purchase from. A higher rep is typically easily attained by things as simple as "stumbling" websites. Granted, a lot of the time it is given for quality posts. Just keep it in mind if you have intentions of buying from someone here on DP.
The more rep you have, the more rep you will get. Why? Because most people give rep back and rep from an old member with many posts and greens is worth more points and many new members don't even know how to give rep.
