Ive submitting to alot of directories work? When you preform a search on the internet your site never comes up in results as being in directories. I mean does anyone really use the little not much known directories to search up stuff on the internet except yahoo, google and such? Yes I know I cant type right today also so dont comment.

why do u say that when u search results never come up in directories thats a lie.

I would suggest you read up or search many many many similar started threads here on DP about this same exact subject.

Free directories are waste of time.
Paid directories are waste of money.

Why bother about directories? Just buy a domain--upload your pages and wait--wait--wait for visitors to discover you in the Amazon.

Wait for the Search Engine bots to discover you there without a compass/GPS or other tracking device they use to Index your site.

Directories -- TOTAL WASTE. But Good directory is DMOZ:p

Possibly you are checking backlinks in Google.
These are updated once per about 3 months.
    Check your links under Yahoo.

Maybe read the sticky at the top of this category first to learn about Directories, or in your case to learn a lot about Directories
It's all there for you in the top Sticky Thread :)

    1. you are submitting to the wrong directories, thats why you don't see results.
    2. you are impatient, just wait for directory pages to get indexed.

Yes they do work. I just posted yesterday that I was impressed that a term I searched for showed up on a directory from an owner here on DP.

Directories do work. After I start up a new website, I submit it to a few good paid directories, like 3 maybe and the website is indexed within 24-48 hours. One of the easiest ways to get indexed and quality backlinks. Directories are not a waste of time, just ask everyone that submits to them. They take a lot of time, but its worth it in the end!

    They Work

It needs time and submissions (using proper anchor text is the key)

That's it and i'm talking from experience

You don't get results overnight lilcrickett, it takes time, submitting to lots of directories isn't always going to be the answer but it sure as heck will help.

It takes time. Your SERPs won't improve simply because you've submitted to a bunch of directories.

You have to realize that the directories first have to approve you, then you have to wait til the search engines crawl the page where you're listed. So, it's a process; not overnight.

Directory links help, but it depends on which directory you submit to also. The stronger the directory, the stronger your link. For example, I rather have one strong link from AvivaDirectory vs. 3 or 4 links from some weak directories.

    The final vote is:

Yes, it really really help a lot.

I have a website with zero backlinks for three years and I don't see any hope in the serps. In fact I'm the only visitors if remember to visit my website once a week.

Combine content and backlinks and you should see some positive results.
