Hi, From time to time someone submit an adult site to my directory. When I say adult I mean casino, betting stuff like that (not porn) I see many people don't accept them, which is fine. But I don't see the problem with them - if Google index them and give them pr (sometimes even high pr) what is the problem? Am I wrong?
Is that what i wanted to explain in a recent thread... Adult, pharmacy or gambling websites are ok, as long as they are not spam and if they have quality content... Before approving or rejecting such websites in free web directory, I carefully analyze the content, the same way that i do with all submitted websites. So... no discrimination...
Well some people just don't like gambling sites in their directory, I used to have them but there's been a lot of posts about PayPal, e.g. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=394843&highlight=paypal+gambling
Im aware of the Paypal issue and its a reason i dont accept gambling sites on mine but would you explain futher regarding "but you can fix it" please.
PayPal is not the only issue, some directories promote themselves as 'Family Friendly' and adult sites are not friendly to children.
aside the problems with PayPal. Adult or gambling sites tend to spam very aggressively. So, they can waste your time big time.
A good point, i think the closest mine come to anything adult are Lingerie sites and with those i always check just incase their selling sex toys in the corner as a little earner.
It's likely a matter of personal preference with regards to mature content; some directory owners prefer not to list such sites.
yup, most of directory owner try to keep their directory Family Friendly, thatswhy they Don't accept Adult website.
Gambling is frowned upon by Christians such as myself, and it's 18+ content, so many directories would like to have their site universal.
I am not sure about this but I think you can edit your payment.tpl so it does not send any details to paypal except item ID. That way PayPal doesn't know a link is being purchased for a gambling/adult website, they just know that a whatever link is being purchased... Once again, not sure about this but from what i heard, that's the way I see it working.
I hear some directory owners have changed the value for "item_name" so that it does not include the url of the submitted site in paypal.tpl Not sure how well it's working.
