Will the middle east get sidelined and neglected like most of Africa.

I was just wondering, if and when the oil supplies dries up, since it is a non renewable resource, will the rest of the world forget middle east, sideline it and neglect it , like most of Africa.

It would be a very frightening proposition, since the world economy is very much dependent on oil. So there will be lot of repercussion.

    What do you guys think.

The Middle East is now rich enough to be able to sustain their economies through other means such manufactering and service sector. The oil revenues are allowing these countries to diversify into other income streams and so are becoming less-oil dependent. I hope the Middle Eastern countries do however reduce greatly their oil output nd out put inflationary pressure on the price of oil.

Anyway, by the time theoil in these countries run out, we will likely have renewable sources such as solar, wind, etc to run the factories, cars, homes ,etc.

Africa, as a continent, is one of the richest places on the planet in terms of almost every natural resource. It's not the world's fault the people there can't get their act together and use them productively and profit from them, is it?

It's the fault of the British, and the Dutch, and everyone else who tore down their empires and sold them off to become slaves. Then of course the Brits and such did lots of lovely nasty things there and created the craphole it is today. Kinda like what France did to Vietnam, but of course we got to clean that up. I figure if the Brits really wanna fess up and be on par with what we have done to help people they should fix Africa. And I don't mean go back down there and slaughter them all either...

Unfortunately, these resources are either not in huge demand or isn't a requirement, or maybe they don't have enough of it. if they did, they would surely be rich.

Algeruia is a strange country because, although it is actually in Africa, some would regard it a Middle Eastern country. Algerians think of themseleves as Arabs.

Yes, I live in an area of lOndon that has a large Algerian community. They all speak Arabic to each other ahead of french. They certainly think of themselves as Arabs. also, it is very noticeable that some are traditional while others are very westernised.

yeah. no one demands oil, coal, diamonds, cocoa, corn, livestock, gold, salt, gold, copper, uranium, iron, lead, zinc, etc.

no demand at all for any of that. not to mention, africa has a very diverse wild life population, making it one of the great possible tourist spots on the planet. too bad its leadership and citizens prefer to kill each other instead.

I agree most of them are westernized...if you visit Algeria you will see a lot of people that dress like westernized people (mostly the young 16 to late 30s)

I don't mean the dress sense. Of course, if you live in London you are expected to wear jeans and t shirt, but I am on about their attitude.

I know that Starbucks pays them next to nothing for coffee, coco and then sells a cup on an American high street for $4 or something like that.

And? The seller sets the price for cocoa. If whatever company over there sells cocoa for next to nothing; that's the price its worth isn't it?

Clearly; you are missing the bigger picture here.
