So now I have your attention I will tell you how I used Stumbleupon to get on first page of Google for my keywords and how it helped me beat local competition.

First determine what keywords you are trying to get on first page of Google , I was trying to get on first page for cars in my home town. What I did was I used keywords "Hometown Car Yard" . Next step we setup a stumbleupon account and get stumbling your site , but in the description we enter keywords " Hometown Car Yard". After that you go to digitalpoint forums in freebies section and trade some stumbles with other people get them to use the keywords you have chosen.

Cause Stumbleupon is a PR8 site the search engines crawl it often, so within a week of using this technique I got on first page of Google for my local keywords.

    So give it a try

I enter in my site and click on "I like it!" on my toolbar?

    That trick never works...

It needs to be something worthy of sticking around for. The average time a stumbler stays on a page is like seven seconds or something. Not much time to convert and rarely will such a conversion happen. You need to make a few WONDERFUL landing pages for the stumblers to hit on so that more and more will also click the "I like it" button.

I have a forum and have clicked the main indexes of that myself and have ran them through various stumble exchanges. I've yet to have anything convert...but a few of my threads (humor) have actually lead to new members or something more to just 7 seconds.

However, what I think Chad was getting at was simply getting as many people as possible to hit that first index through manual exchanges. While within stumble itself I think such things are discounted, outside of stumble I'd guess that they are not. So participating in 100 exchange threads may not get you much stumble traffic, in the eyes of Google you could be king... If that is the case, and it likely is, then one should maybe rethink the possibilities of SU and it's uses.

It is by with the 'i like it' button.

PersonA "likes" personB's page and vise-versa multiplied by as many times as you can possibly do it.

How much traffic have you received from StumbleUpon? Maybe your blog posts aren't interested to them - maybe a humor topic?

Ok you aren't doing it for the constant stumbleupon traffic , are doing it for the back links.

I used mine with a local market website using" my home town and cars for example as keywords" then I used that as description. Now when you search for these keywords my site comes up on first page with stumbleupon username and results just above so I two results in reality on first page.

It's sometimes hard to change the train of thought ;)

Backlinks are an interesting change as well. Have you thought about profile review trades which should add a new level of backlinkage...by promoting the promotion?

its brilliant in theory, but you definitely need
    a) a very atractive site
    b) a great product that your even better at selling than the product is itself
    c) and hope those people actually want to paypal you money or click to your affiliates.
