Natural backlinks, how much it will affected your SERPs?

Hi, i have read here and there about natural backlinks. But one thing I realized, without the correct anchor text from external links, we couldn't get the good SERPs in our targeted keywords. And natural backlinks couldn't give us the correct anchor texts.

In example, I want my anchor text is: "apple" and my website is: www.healthyapple.com (this is only example, ok? :D) do you think everyone who linked to us (I mean give us natural back links, not exchange links, buying links, etc.) will write "apple" as the anchor text? I don't think so. Usually they will write the domain name or "click here" as the anchor text. So how important actually the natural backlinks? only for PR? So to ranked well in the competitive keywords, natural backlinks is not that important? Or I was wrong? Please correct me then...Because I have seen myself that I could only ranked well in competitive keywords if I succeed to get many back links with the correct anchor text.

Natural links are one of the best links you can build to your website... However, many people post links using its html only (for example: http://www.nimadirectory.com/). Which without the anchor text, search engine doesn't know what that natural link is praising in your website...

To rank well in competitive keywords you almost always have to turn into buying text links from other websites/blogs/directories....

    Cheers

Hm, I always thought building links and SEO went hand in hand. I've never spent a single penny towards links. Anyway article marketing accounts for most of my backlinks.

EZ Money, you have spent no money on links you say.... Where do you rank? Any big terms? I have sites that rank in some of the hardest terms on the net.

Natural links still build site authority through sheer numbers even if its the site name as anchor.

Just look at wiki, how many text links do you think they buy each month. Or even DigiPoint for example. But yes new sites usually have to buy links to rank for their terms to start getting exposure and help the natural links flow.

what I want to ask is about natural backlinks, how much it can affected our SERPs, that's all. So from all of the replies here, the point is natural backlinks are useless for SERPs, right? I think buying link is not a good choice in the long run.

natural backlinks are good for the site , every link is good for the site relevant or inrelevant, if you want good anchor text just ask the webmaster of the site for it. its their link on their site !!

yeah but unfortunately some of those webmasters are too lazy to change our anchor texts. Imagine if you put someone's backlinks on your site just because you want to (natural back links, not paid links or link exchange), and then the admin of that link asked you to change his link, will you change it? You might answer yes, but the others might say no.
