So I'm trying to invoice someone on another forum for a domain, and ask them to send their billing info to my email. Well she sends it to the admin email on the "who is" page. OK, I tell her that we don't have it. She tells me that she has sent it 6 times. We don't have it. I ask her to just simply PM me an email, and I will invoice her from the admin email She won't do it. I understand her hesitation and make the first move and send her ALL of my information, including phone numbers. She doesn't call. She still won't simply send me her email address. This has been going on for 4 hours. Am I being unreasonable, or is this buyer playing games?
If domain is very valuable, you should use escrow service for security purposes. Protection for both buyer and seller.
No of course not. I can't even get her to send me her email address. We receive payment first, and then transfer. It's not for $xx,xxx, it's not even $xxxx. We rarely , actually never, do escrow for small amounts...it's not worth it. Escrow takes almost a month to release the funds to the seller. It's a pain in the ass, and the buyer always has the domain before the seller receives payment. Also it takes the domain off the market for 3-4 weeks, which for a couple hundred bucks, is not worth it. Her whole point is, if I can't receive emails through the administrative contact email, then I must not have the right to sell the domain. My whole point is, WE DON"T HAVE ANY EMAILS from you at that address and we have been looking out for it..so...send me your email address to where I asked you to send it, and I will send you back one from that address. <edited> Now I see what she was doing...she tried to do an end around me, and get a cheaper deal. Now the deal is dead. She was quickly shot down, and both me and my associate have a bad taste about selling at the agreed upon price. Oh well.
Sorry, but could you explain a little bit more as to what exactly she did to try and get the lower price? Just for future reference, in case she tries it on someone else, please.
This particular domain is owned by the company that I work for, so she contacted them direct, and offered a lower price. Which back fired! She didn't take into account that I was making her a deal below what the sale price was, and chose not to follow and of my request and instructions. She didn't get that domains are a small part of the company, and nobody really wants to "Wheel and Deal" with anyone over $100. They are more apt to raise the price just for the hassle of not dealing with me direct, like is what I am paid to do.
Far from it. Most of this is just common sense. Believe me, I learn just as much from observations and following trends and patterns, than anything. Unfortunately, I am old enough to remember most of the "Bandwagons" of the past. Soon I'll be saying stuff like, "Back in the day..", Trust me, in the near future some of the younger guys will be saying stuff like, "Hey remember when there was this mad scramble for PR?" Every year it's something different, but the stable, sound business transactions and decisions last longer and are more profitable in the long run. (Damn, I sound like my mom)
