well! google or other search engines wants long term sites! think for yourself, say google give me a pr5 and a top serp for a few keywords and my domain falls after one year!

stablity is the point here! isn't it! though i can't say for sure, but then i belive in this point! and it hurts nothing to book the domain for 10 years, rather safeguards your domain!:)

So thats just your thoughts, no proof/backup.

Your domain is 1 year old and has PR1, thats why it ranks higher than new PR0 sitrs...

ya, just my though:cool:, but then i belive it can work!
hey, amit! can you test it! get one of your site PR0! booked for 10 years, and see if it helps!

google serps deponds on lot's of things! the main reason is anchor text! your keyword that you are targetting must be your anchor text, that will help!:D more than anything else!!
yes, pr1 is better than pr0 for serps!:p but then you can defeat a pr6 with pr0 if you have the keyword as your anchor text for most of your backlinks!

Though I don't own any bidding directory, out of curiosity - I searched few words and see www.bigweblinks.com ruling the #1 spot for all those terms. Not only that --
Its is also having a very respectable SERPs position for the keyword web directory -- which is showing the sub-category.

It seems Google is giving special -- emphasis on 2 things for SERPs -- PR + Domain Age.

I know some PR0 directories are ranking high -- but isn't internal PR update continuous?

I wouldn't consider of domain age factor as it is most likely weak one. Google is smart enough to know how to rank a site. Just because of the domain age, no site should have an advantage.

It's the similar misunderstanding among people about .edu site. It's not the extension that gives a better weigh in G robot's eyes. .edu sites are usually more authoritative as they have many strong backlinks from high PR site, or other high ranked site (in G SERPs).

Bigweblinks.com is rather new also. There are few sites that have gone ahead of it, so if domain age is a strong factor, they should be ranked high ;)

I think it's simply Chris has gained many good backlinks as well as many quality backlinks. That seems to be the bottom line factor.

To me this keyword competition in this thread is only for DP directory owners. The keyword suggestion tool doesn't even show any significance of the keyword. Although the keyword could become popular so people start searching bidding directories with "bidding web directory". Only then I would think the term is valuable. Of course, some may try to "go ahead" of others ;) We shall see how it goes.

IMHO - except one or two like www.bigweblinks.com -- the bidding directory is just a SPECIAL DP PHENOMENON.;)

I wonder how many organic submissions they get. I have no experience at all in them as I also don't have much interest - just a passing curiosity.:p

Google gave me a manual review and bitch slapped me down to #75.
I wasn't going to go out like that because of what has been invested in the bidding web directory by others, so I fought and fought and fought it out, and brought it back.

So now, after I am done with my other three tweaks i have elsewhere with my other project, I'll come back to the bidding directory and take the #1 spot.
