sorry guys, i haven't been checking on this thread, im still taking more projects, i've just finished 2 in the past 2 days. thanks
I hired xeongx/hossein_2hi@hotmail.com on 7/5 and was told he would code my main PSD and a header PSD for $15. I immediately send the files and was told to expect the work to be done "tonight or tomorrow". It took two days to get the first version of the work (twice the time quoted). I only received the main PSD and he argued that I didn't about the header page and demanded more money from me. I've attached a PDF log of the full MSN conversation here. Eventually xeongx said he would finish the project. I then realize that the code is not compatible with internet explorer 5 or 6 nor safari (and probably other browsers too). Feel free to test the code for yourself here. That is even xeongx's own demo site. I could only get the code to work with Firefox 2. It looks really good with Firefox 2 but of course not everyone uses Firefox 2. I emailed xeongx and got this response: I then asked for a refund if he is not able to code the work to work with multiple browsers. As you all know, pretty much all websites are compatible with most browsers. I think it is pretty silly to require people to upgrade to IE7 just to view my website. This was xeongx's response: So it seems the bottom line for this coder's work is: NOT on time NOT on budget NOT quality work (or even functional work)
if he's not able to code it for all browsers then he can't offer this service... Yes sometimes it's hard, spend 3 days coding template or safari... but things like that happens and when you get 700k unique visits per day ;]
As a CSS coder one is expected to make the page compatible with all browsers specified by the request. Some use hacks while some like me prefer to use browser specific style sheets. If you can not achieve overall compatibility you need to go back to the basics. The fact that you can not code multi browser compatible pages basically points to the fact that your learning process isn't complete. I have seen many coders here use divs for a to z. It may work fine but in the long run you are just getting shoddy work. The site and content should make sense even when the styles are disabled. Thats why there are specific tags for specific format. For those of you trying to hire coders check the samples if they validate and have semantic coding before you hire. In the end you get what you pay for.
