    Hi

I currently operate a finance/investing/real estate site and I am getting about 80k uniques per month.

If I were to put say 2-3 adds on each page, use adsense and also sell pop under traffic, what would be a realistic expectation of earnings per unique visitor?

    0.01$? 0.1$? more? less?

It's very hard to say - as so much depends on ad placement, and niche. I would say somewhere between 0.01 and 0.05. I run a site with a similar traffic level and get 0.023 per visitor.

Really though, it's one of those things you have to just try and see what happens!

Mmm... well it depend on what the ads it. Mostly PPC comes from text based ads and roughly cost around $0.01 ~ $0.5 per click based on your keyword.

It sounds like you have a real nice website, for that reason I would caution you not to use popunders. They have a tendency to drive away visitors.

I'll second that. Popups and popunders etc are seen as sneaky, and visitors lose trust in sites that indulge in this practice. Plus, most browsers/firewalls etc block them anyway. Stick to CPC and CPM ads.

Judging from your niche it sounds like you would make a pretty penny...

You have site in finance/investing/real estate and get 80k uniques a month ? Adsense will be definitely more than 0.01 and 0.1

how much should you really monetize your website?

JOhn Chow monetize about his whole blog - even asking commenters if they want the no follow tag in their comment line he charges them - I mean isnt that asking much

I try not to kill my website with all links to others but how much of your website should you really monetize?

Yes but not everyone clicks on the ads and so if you get $1 a click, and only 1 out of 100 people click on it, thats 0.01 per person.

Popup and popunder are not welcome as it tend to let the visitor out from your sites. Why not selling banner ads space on your site to enhanced monetizing.

jacobbannier, fix your math skills. If you get $1 click with adsense - it's $1 to you no matter what. 1 of 100 people clicks = 1% CTR. Adsense anyway will be no less than 0.1 per click in average with these niche.

If you are looking for some reputable CPM ad networks for just banner ads or popunders aswell, then the first 2 listed here are very good and pay well. The ones further down don't pay as much, but are much easier to get into.

Personally though, I would not really use popups. Adsense would be your best choice and if you don't do well with that, then just do CPM banner ads.

Pop-ups/unders will put people off your site. You're better to stick to non-intrusive advertising. Afterall, the adverts should be there to compliment your website, rather than the other way round.
