    Hi,
i just opened a new directory! and was tempted to use a submission service!:(
they told me we submit to high quality directories!

i paid them XX$ for 100 dorectories to start with, and in my admin panel that they gave me on their site it shows site submitted, with the report of all directory names submitted to!

BUT i have only recieved 38 "Link submitted" emails??? and around 10 - 15 link approved emails!!!

is it possible that other 62 do NOT send out "Link Sibmitted" emails even?... this is what i was told! ....not every directory sends out verification emails!

i guess other people are also using such services, please advise

    Regards
    M.

I'd expect 100 emails - check your spam box too.

38 is low i would expect at least 50 from 100 submissions, you should verify your spam box.

Not all the directories do but, it would be nice if you can share the submission service you used.

Sorry to burst ur bubble but , not all directories send out confirmation email that a link has been approved or rejected . Aka www.h-log.com u will never get notification if link is removed. Might get notification if link is featured and its approval. But otherwise hehe aint happening , aint gonaa put unwanted load on mail server. Cause daily u get lots of spam and unwanted submissions too. No use sending confirmation to those unwanted users.

    cheers

That sounds better than the one I used. Many don't send email notification and some take weeks or even months to reply. I think you also get a higher amount of rejections probably because the sites not submitted correctly.

    Na, its a owners preference...

The new 10 free directories that i have started donot send submission e-mails

And thats a personal choice, nothing QBC about it

What you could do is that you try to submit your link once agin in a few of the dirs for which you have not received submission mails, if your link has been previously submitted..You will not be able to submit again

    An easy way to check

    It varies..
Usually free directory admins are lazy to approve links within short time.
And few don't even check them.

I would say depends on directories, there are many many many directories out there that are just installed for the quick buck, they dont set up e-mail not. so I guess its possible

I have submitted to literally thousands... From my experience, only about half send any emails at all. That suits me fine because I already have over 200 spam emails a day on one of my email address to deal with as it is.

I think no because most free directories don't setup free email.I myself started free directory and when i rejected submission and my directory emailer sent rejection emails i got a lot of bad responses!

Not all directories check for duplicate submissions. some directories allow multiple submissions from the same domain. but still wothwhile to try this if you still have doubts with that submission service.

I think it is normal. I do directory submissions too. Not all directories send confirmation mails.

In fact, I own 3 directories and just 1 sends a confirmation mail.

Then you have been ripped off. Ask for the directories urls and they check in some of your site is waiting for approval.

If they are free directories -- expect only 25-40% . I used to do my own submissions and still do. So thats my experience.

    Hi M,

I wouldn't worry about this. Many directories do not send out confirmation emails when a site is submitted or approved/disapproved.

The number you've received vs. the number of directories that was submitted to sounds about right.

Directories often are slow to approve free submissions (I think they figure it gives you incentive to pay for a link, which will be quickly approved). Some are faster than others.

And, in my experience newer directories are faster to approve submissions than the more established directories are. But patience is worthwhile, because the established directories usually carry more weight (reputation, PR etc.) with the search engines than the newbies do.

Just hang in there. This is really normal. Here are the stats for the last site I submitted to a carefully-chosen list of proven quality directories.

124 directories sent out 44 submission confirmation letters. 19 sent acceptance / decline emails within 3 days of submission. Of the 19 acceptances, only 2 were niche directories (For some reason niche directories often seem to take longer to review submissions.)

I do run a directory submission service & this is very typical. After a month the number of sites accepted goes way up. And, links continue to be added over time. It just takes some directory owners a long time to get to them. But if it is a good quality directory (the only ones which are worthwhile anyway), it is worth a little wait to get those quality backlinks.

    all best,
    Denise

38% is pretty normal, in my experience. Most of the "link submitted and awaiting approval" emails are pretty pointless anyway, you only really need to know whether your website has been accepted or declined.

Most won't notify you on rejection, and quite a few won't email you at all, no matter what. This is par for the course for free submissions, and nothing to worry about.
