    Hi,
I actually started a new directory few days ago..i never announced it as i was building links for it slowly.I listed few sites in categories. Now all pages are in supplemental even latest links page .I am thinking about closing this directory and starting a new one as i only invested about 200$ on this one.I added all categories manually !I really liked this domain but i am sad that i will have to delete this directory :(.Have this happened to you before?

Getting backlinks is not a problem but i am not sure if inner pages will get out of supplimental because i cannot build links for 99% pages of web site :D

Your thinking in the OP post would be correct if you dont want to waste time. Just move on and make a new one :)
    Good luck..

If you build unique meta tags for each category, they will eventually get out of supplemental results.

Be patient, it's only been a few days.

I support NRL Media & Richie_Ni's views. Build some quality backlinks for the main domain only and then wait for sometime and keep your patience. When your directory is cached again in few days time --the might go away.

    Best of luck.

You might need to do more than just build up backlinks.
You will probably need to add some content to those pages as well, and then make a site map that you will submit to google.

Your pages usually end up in supplementals because there's something wrong. Could be duplicate title tags, duplicate descriptions, empty pages, etc. Find out what's wrong, fix it, and they'll get out of the supplementals. Make a new site with the same error or errors and its pages might also end up in the supplementals.

DON"T ADD A SITEMAP TO GOOGLE IN YOUR CASE.
With current status additionaly it may cause a filter on all search results.
First check HEADER HTTP STATUS of your pages.
Make URLs unique, also TITLE and DESCRIPTIONS if using it, than some content on detail pages is always welcome.

I never said to add a sitemap now. Only after changes have been made. What is wrong with that? You want Google to index your site as soon as possible after chages have been made.

    TIPS:
    Suppliment Tag is not Permanent!
put the category name in the title, and description, thus making all pages unique.
do some research on inpage SEO and get a blog!
if google finds new content on pages....they just might come out.... mine came out!

Opening a new site.... well whats the odds against this happening there also !!!

wrk on this site.... itll happen!

Scrap the directory? That seems rather rash.

You may have some issue there that needs addressing - crawlability (see SEO link in my sig for an explanation), non-unique <head> info on all pages, some authority links to the home page, http headers, etc.

Saad, I actually wouldn't worry. I've been seeing some strange behavior with supplemental results lately. This includes new pages, even on established websites, being thrown into the supplemental index right after they are created and crawled by Google for the first time.

So, I'd just keep going for a few more weeks. I think that the problem should resolve itself in the ordinary course of building your directory.

Also, it could never hurt to get Yahoo! directory and Business.com links to the site.

    I'm with Jeff here...

Link to quality directories and websites for a start.

Then... why don't you let it lay there for a few months before starting to work on it?

I have a few like that these days, and once I get decent index rates, PR and PS I'll announce those. ;)

    Use the site:www.yoursite.com command

    e.g.http://www.google.com/search?q=site:www.linklister.co.uk&ie=UTF-8
shows 1010 indexed pages, when you get to the last link on the second page you see the supplementals start.

Use this command: site:www.yoursite.com *** -view

To see just the supplemental results, so for the site above it's 954
    http://www.google.com/search?q=site:www.linklister.co.uk+***+-view&hl=en&safe=off&filter=0

Then by dividing 954 by 1010 I see I have 94% of pages in supplemental

I have much work to do too :(
