I have tried to be somewhat consistant with my avatar throughout my time at DP. The main reason is I believe people "see" an avatar rather than a username. In effect, your avatar becomes your reputation... I noticed some who sell their avatar tend to lose their identity in my eyes and sometimes I have to try to think abnout who they really are. I do realize DP is more or less a place to do business but I also believe serious webmasters need to use every advantage they can get to get the edge.

So my question to you is... "Is your avatar inportant to you or would you sell it for cash?"

No, I'm not buying by the way ;)

My avatar is important but I would sell it for cash. Money is one of the reasons I work and spend so many hours on the computer. My passion for it is the other.

Well, generally I keep my avvy to myself, but it depends on how much they would be paying me. For a few bucks, no thanks.

If they're going to shell out some big dollars, then yeah sure. Of course, they would have to make the icon themselves and the icon would have to be 'decent' looking. Doesn't have to be the best, but it can't be all pixilated with hard to read text or anything.

I would rather choose to keep my avatar. But it depends on the price.

I like to think of it this way. If you have a sleek looking avatar like mine, post a lot, and are a reputable member then most likely people will visit.

I like to convert that traffic into money. If I get 1000 uniques p/m from 1 avatar then I could make say 15-20 $ from ads on the site.

Now if someone asked to buy my avatar for 20$ I would give it to them. Then I would use that 20$ to buy 2 avatars for a nice deal.

Then I would get 2000 uniques and end up getting 30-40$ p/m from those who come to my site. I would then invest to more until I make a steady amount.

Now, no one can prove that method may work, but when I get a decent amount of money, I may just try out. It would be hard though since you don't know if someone visited your site from your avatar.

Yes, I know, I am a genius, I thought of this idea on the spot.;)

I love my avatar and think people recognize that before the name and remember it! I don't think I'd sell it

No way I'd sell my avatar. I don't think avatar advertising works anyway, plus it makes the forum look cheap n nasty.

I don't think avatar advertising works as well as Sig advertising. But what do I know! No one has ever bought mine. I usually do something people will recognize right away that its me :)

I usually recognize members here by their avatar. When the avatar selling craze happened, I was so confused reading posts because some had the same avatar.

I don't care much about my avatar, but since no one has bought it I decided to put up my own.

I have no avatar of my own. I have recently rented my space for another peoples avatar to be fixed for earning some monthly cash.I dont feel that avatar is important. You are valued mainly by your posts count and the itrader count.

My whole point was your avatar is part of branding. If its seen enough, people know who you are at a glance. I suppose we all have a price... I wonder what mine is ;)

It is really not much important to me. But I can put avatar ads for cash if someone wants to advertise.
