If it tells anything, its only that Ozzies are concerned with stability and security of resource supply from the middle east. 2 facts are not hidden from anyone (Except those who do not want to see them) 1) Middle east is one of the major supplier of Petroleum to third world countries. 2) Saddam was abusing blatantly UN suggested Oil for Food program, to Get maximum money for personal interest instead of Food for its population. Now if they (US alliance) leave the Iraq early without ensuring stability in Iraq, all whole region may fall in the hands of extremists. If they get the control of all the Petroleum resources, it will have the worst impact on Third world countries like India/Pakistan and not America or Eu. as they have plenty of other sources for their petroleum needs. And this is what Australian Defense Minister was saying, to ensure the stability so that resources wont fall in the wrong hand. I cant understand why making a fuss about it?

If WEST have to maintain the current standard of living, oil prices can go up to certain degree, from there it's diminishing return. 20-30 yrs oil supply in IRAQ is now opened up. IF OIL RUNS OUT in 20 YRS AND WE ARE STILL RELYING ON OIL, THEN WE WILL INVADE RUSSIA. CURRENT STATE, RUSSIANS ARE NOT THAT STUPID WITH US MISSILE DEFENSE. In 20 yrs, after oil runs out, you will see who will stick around to spread DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ.
