    Hi, recnetly I saw someone selling a steam account. which when you sign up to steam, you agree - by checking a box, that you won't resell/trade the account. Anyway, some fool, is trying to sell an account http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=389579

    I was warning people that you should not buy this, and telling people that it was against the TOS.

    yet i get warned trying to help?

    how about we all sell nulled scripts.. i don't see a difference.

    I forget the exact words, but this is real close:
    • DP allows a mostly free and open marketplace
    • They don't "propose to enforce the TOS of other sites"
    • Along with this freedom, comes some bad things
    • Many (not all) buyers have the common sense to not bid on 'illegal' items.

    IMO, the 'open freedom' (for both good and bad sales) is a strength for the forum.

    Why?
    Without that freedom, DP would be 'just like everywhere else'.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    IMO, Your getting warned is pretty bogus (I didn't read the thread)
    • Just today, I let an auction thread know the site for sale had blatent removal of the credits.
    • So far, I 'got away with' having tried to help.
    • IMO, a free market leaves us the option of 'self-regulation', and...
    • ...sometimes trying to help the other buyers to 'do the right thing'.
    ~~~~~~~~~~

    FYI: From what I've seen
    1. Selling MySp^ce type acounts is 'more acceptable' (around here) and your 'interference' will possibly receive a (unfair) warning.
    2. Cheating on copyrights, footer links, original content and art is 'less acceptable', and many buyers are glad to know they are bidding on 'bogus goods'.

    I hope this helped out someone.

    yes i was hijacking the thread to a certain degree, a warning could be in order but the fact that the thread was not deleted was just silly. why do people frown on selling nulled scripts but not selling accounts that are not allowed to be sold? the user even agrees when registering that they won't resell it.

    This is just my opinion:
    • MySp^ce (for example) claims to not allow certain things, but...
    • The fake account craze helped them grow into the huge, 'semi-valuable' (nasty) mess they are today.
    • Who really gets hurt if DP member 'A' sells 4,234 'friends' to DP member 'B'?

    On the other hand, original designs, Open Source credits, and general copyrights seem to get more respect.
    • Many (not all) people are smart enough to know blatant stealing of designs, and copyright removal, can come back to haunt them years from now.
    Thanks, for trying to make DP better :)

    It's not the responsibility of the mods to attempt to enforce the TOS of products or services. You can warn anyone you like (some people use their signature or start a GC thread for this) but you can't hijack someone's sales thread. When that happens you keep bumping the the thread in question to the top of the sales section and that's not fair to all the other people who have thier own sales thread going.
