Gay Marriage: Should It Be Allowed?

yes, not too familiar with the subject... ( but saying it as a choice is a bit iffy because that it's frown upon.. and the response would be.. because it's not a choice. However, rape is not a choice either). I'm not making sense Regardless I think if it was solely a choice, love is love.

 

Yes, gay people should be allowed to get married. The people in this thread who think it's disgusting need to educate themselves. Gay people don't affect you in any way, shape or form - they should be able to love who they want to love, and be afforded the same rights as heterosexual couples.

I don't know why some people are so frightened by the concept of gay marriage. How is that going to affect you? IT DOESN'T!

Actually smantha, I've seen quite a number of gay people who do not have those so called 'hormones' that hit them at week 8 as you see, and you'd never tell that they are gay.
On the other hand, there are these people who are way into this 'act' - and i personally don't like it. It does not, however, mean that i hate them or will not talk to them. Everyone has certain types of behavior that they dislike, right ? I'm sure you have a certain behavior that you dislike. No need for red rep because of that

If marriage exists to produce kids, why are the elderly allowed to get married? Or people with "reproduction issues"? Using your logic, any person not able to have kids should not be able to get married...

Why should people be ashamed of who they are with? I see plenty of guys walking around with ugly fat girlfriends... people don't whisper "they shouldn't be seen together in public, that's gross"....

And if you're saying gay isn't "normal" because their is less of them, there's also less jews (only about 12million in the world), so should jews not let other people know they're jewish? what about blacks; they CANT cover it up...

I hear this a lot, a bold statement with no explanation to back it up... I'm not saying you don't have an argument, but so many people say this, then can't backup their point of view with logical thought.

supposed to have been? who are you to say that? there's scientific research (just heard about it the other day) that suggests gays have the gay-mindset since before birth... so it IS the way it was supposed to be




Finally, this is my thought, either make it 100% legal for gay people to get married, or take away all benefits of marrige...
This is why (keep separation of church / state in mind) :

- people use religion to keep gays from getting married
- that makes marriage "religious"
- people that are married get tax benefits (and other perks)

So... by not allowing gay people to wed for religious purposes, and providing benefits for marriage, the government is breaking their own separation of church and state laws...

And my opinion on behavior has NOTHING to do with the person being gay. It's only the behavior. It so happens to be that quite a lot of gay people have that kind of attitude.
