is there a reason why you cant find all the locations and a total number of datacenters since they are publicly traded

My theory is that these dc's are always crashing during upgrades/updates, or power outages especially during the summer one of reasons we are all seeing dances and all kind of weird things.

If they have 450,000 servers and 1 crashes, there are still 449,999 online:)

Has anyone ever wondered what Google does with its servers once they become outdated? You just can't throw up 450,000 servers.

It's not like all of the 450,000 servers will become outdated, some are new, some old etc. etc.

They probably havent done that yet, besides they have nearly half a million servers so even if they arent the newest of the new then they're still doing pretty well I'd say!

I can't imagine half a million servers! Impossible!

Well actually, a server does reach the stage in its life cycle where it becomes too costly to run in terms of electricity than it is worth. It wouldn't surprise me if Google had a high server turnover rate, just to get new parts that are more power efficient.

How many servers did they have in 2002? Quite a bit probably. And they probably are too inefficient to bother turning on, not to mention they would probably be pretty beat. What would Google do with these?
