You have a point there.

 

no offense but this is a pretty stupid idea trying to beat dmoz, first of all the helpers you get no matter what they say they won't be the so loyal to help for years, as you cant beat dmoz unless your Jeff or Chris.

 

You don't have to be Jeff or Chris to do anything, be yourself, hard work and $$ is the way.

Don't be pessimistic and say only one man can do it, and no one else. I bet if Jeff could do it, so can Shoemoney? Or even John Chow?

 

then why arent they doing it? well because its useless, Alexa has a Dir. Google has a Dir. Yahoo has a dir. dmoz, etc... its already there all the info you could want, even google why would someone want to go somewhere else when google is on homepage's of most PC's in the world? Your looking for SEO experts to help you with this, since I didn't see this being promoted by any SEO experts how many regular webmasters are going to join in on this? BTW Johns Scott is working on a ODP.

 

The one who will do this is the one with the money not the one who needs money. It's just a hypothetical scenario but what if there was someone who's been going for say over half a dozen years quietly building a directory of categories and links and then when he/she/they have enough money and interest, putting it into a script format and then POW, they come online with as big a directory as dmoz if not bigger.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility you know.

 

Do i see a post asking to help to get pagerank ? your missing the important objective altogether that dmoz was started for " Providing the best content and sites" , i have not seen in any post of yours talking about "CONTENT" all i see oon "I Love PR " "Lets get PR first". You think dmoz started with PR first than started building content ?

Your objective is really blurred and i doubt it will be successful but good luck.

I think your directory it's not good because you don;t offer static links, they are all redirected
