Hostgator is down?

I can't access my sites on hostgator, nor hostgator.com itself.

Which means obviously, yes, they're down :) but is there some avenue to get official information about it? I emailed them just now.

Since it's been about 5 hours, and there doesn't seem to be any post about it on DP yet, it's making me wonder about the scope of the problem.

    Anyone else having this problem?

HostGator, and my sites hosted there, are up for me. The spotcheck tool on the Alertra website also shows HostGator as being accessible from China, Australia, the UK, Germany and three cities in the US.

It's OK with the server now. Two days back there was a problem.

Just to follow up, Hostgator mailed me within 20 minutes or so, very fast, and said they were aware of problems in Japan. So I went to sleep and when I woke up everything was fine again!

Hostgator host my sites and frankly suck.

I've got a forum with 1,000 members which they made me go semi-dedicated for... a day later and my account is "suspended" because it's taking up too much server resources.

I emailed them 14 hours ago and no response yet. At this rate it looks like bye-bye business for me...

Oh yeh - I asked for a refund and they denied me because I "have violated TOS".... didn't know that getting too many users to your site was violating TOS?
