I have no understanding of this Alexa S**T. One of my directory received around 3100 Uniques in May and it improved to Alexa rank of around 210000. In June it received 4000+ uniques and its Alexa went down to 225000. I checked page-view stats --that too increased by a lot. To me --the real traffic is what counts. I am currently getting around daily 140 Unique humans visiting me. I'll be happy if I get around 300 unique human visitors per day
I know it's far from perfect but best measure but it's all we have, sometimes my alexa rank scores a poor day when I Had an awesome traffic day.
I think certain browsers like netscape track data for alexa. Its what i heard. its the best method we have for data measure. shame google cant track it. since they track our history to retrieve PR, traffic would be good aswell.....
What I've read about this is that right now, the Alexa ranking of most American / Canadian / British / Australian sites are going down, even if traffic is not. This is supposedly because a lot of people in China and India are starting to use the Alexa toolbar, which is skewing the data towards sites in China and India. FWIW.
www.directorydream.com Alexa: 48,244 I expect it to grow a lot, since the site is only a few months old.
Lol Jeff - I am from India too -- but I don't even have the Toolbar on my system and don't know how to use it So if I open a site - I definitely do not contribute to its Alexa -- Well- the directory I am talking about is hosted in the US. May be thats the reason for its continuous slide.
It's only a matter of time, they have the populations and internet access is becoming much more readily available. Time to start working on that translator....
And I am so sorry I have to limit submissions and use additional filters during hours they are most active... Have nothing against China or India however people there can be really importunate.
