assuming you had 10 dollars and you were going to start a new blog what would you do? 1. make a niche one with a topic you know nothing about and try to cash in. 2. make a blog u know a lot about the topic and take things slow. 3. a personal blog
I'll go with a combination of number 1 and 2 because you can't do 1 without knowing anything and then i'd spend the 10 bucks on directory submission.
I'd spend the $10 (or £5, I suppose) on a Huuuuu-ge tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. (flavour: undecided) I'd eat it all in one go, and in the ensuing sugar rush, write as much as I know about anything and everything. I guess it wouldn't earn me many $$$ but it would be fun In more serious words - probably (2) I've tried (1) before and it's really not much fun. I've got more entertaining ways of making money (I do a bit of (3) on the side, but that's not for the money)
I'd make a blog I know something about, or that I'm interested in. It doesn't necessarily have to be slow. I love business and finance issues. A blog on that could do well. I also enjoy soccer, and a blog on that probably wouldn't do as well. Make a list of everything you know well enough to write about, and are interested in enough to stick with it, and then just get to it and write, write, write.
My wife packed my lunch so, I don't have to think about that. so, friday evening Movie.. Sounds good to me.
I'd spend $10 on a magic 8-ball then ask myself why I'm trying to start a business with just $10 in my pocket. I guess you'll be hopping on the Spend Time Not Money Bus and riding it for a very long time. If you only have $10 to your name, I'd get a job (or another job) and get some more cash. Hell, I think I spent more than $10 just sitting here writing this. Your best bet is to pick something you're passionate about and just write. Do it for the fun of it. A blog isn't the best way to make a lot of money in this world.
Oooh, it is a tough call between cookie dough and phish food! You've given me an excuse to try this now . I'd definitely stick to what you know, and as marketjunction said, something that you are passionate about. If you get bored then it will become static - keeping it fresh will keep people interested JB
Hey Jason, don't knock the low-cost/no-cost startups. I didn't spend a dime when I started my PR firm a few years back, barely spend anything now, and I do quite well on several fronts from consulting to blogging. It can definitely be done, and without investing huge amounts of time first. You just need the business and marketing sense to pull it off.
If im in manhattan I would have to try to use my $10 to get a little more money just to buy lunch. $10 won't even buy you a domain name and hosting for a month. Personal blogs don't seem to do much unless you have some sort of interesting niche or are a famous person.
I started with $20 to my name and I've generated a lot of revenue in my time. I'm not knocking anything--certainly not the idea that you can turn a little money into a lot of money. The original poster should tuck the $10 away for a minute and ask himself why he's setting up a blog in the first place? Is it just to sell Links and make spare change through AdSense? If so, that's fine, but then I'd tell him to simply pick a profitable niche. Any monkey can put up what I call a ASLS blog (AdSense, Link Sales). Including this one. The easiest niche is the "how to make money" industry. It's as old as time and it's not going anywhere. People still buy "get paid to stuff envelope" info and they'll come to your blog/site too for a very long time to come. If you have a site in this niche and you're not making money, go out, buy a gun and end your life. Here are examples: 1. How to make money flipping Web sites. 2. How to make money online. 3. How to info for webmasters. 4. How to market your web site. Or does the original poster have another product or service? If so, I'd recommend he build a blog/site to compliment that and one that will provide branding and another sales channel for that product/service. I guess my point is that no one can properly answer the OP until these items are known. Once you have your true purpose down, it's easy to proceed.
I would go with answer #4(not listed). Take the money and save it, then go out and get some more.. build something bigger, and better that can make you x1000 more money! For example. If $10 may gets you a blog or some other run of the mill website, or 1k-5k could build yourself something like reviewme.com(just an example since most of us should know about it), and give you money to market it. So while your $10 may make you 50 a month with a blog that anyone else could make with $10 in their pocket, something thought out that adds value to the internet and takes more $$$ to develop will make you x1000 more, because its something that is needed, has a customer base and IMO is cheap to develop for the ROI on it, and you will not be seeing $10 sites rebuilding your service because the entry point is higher.
I'm in Vegas so I would take that 10$ and stick it in a video poker machine and try to make some start up money. OR just buy ciggs and coffee, and think about where to get $10 from.
#1) I would look for a good niche and buy a domain for it.. I think it's easier to earn $$ through this method as the blog market is quite saturated..
No no no. The machines are the worst. Take your $10 to the sportsbook or the Craps table. If you really want to gamble, wait for football season, head to the Red Rock Casino and bet five 10-team parlays for $2 a pop.
True. Football season is a better bet, but for off season, I prefer to put it all on Black, and either win , or loose. Kinda like pulling off a Band Aid. Grab my free shot of Crown, and head out.
