is there any place where i can learn how to operate mass mailing software and email marketing lessons?
And I highly recommend not to use godaddy as your registrar if you are email marketing If you ask why , I'll tell you search for "spam abuse fee"
I use YourMailingListProvider.com It has worked well for me and it very cost affective. As far as marketing lessons they do not have but always remember simpler is better in getting your info across as well as make sure your coding is compatible in all emails such as outlook and looks the same in Gmail just like making your webpage for IE and firefox
I use Godaddy ATM. What registrar would you reccomend for email marketing. I'm planning on using aweber.
Everything you need to know about building a list found here: http://www.john-guanzon.com/splash.html
I agree with whatthedeal. Use a 3rd party service. Going it yourself just may be the fastest way to get cut off by your ISP. Jim
If you buy an opt in list you are usually wasting your money and if you mail to that list, your emails are SPAM. These folks are NOT opted into you, but are opted in to whoever compiled the list...if it was done legitimately. Don't be dumb. Develop your own list. If you are accused of spam, you will have to produce "evidence of solicitation" (their opt in request or form). If you can't (and you can't when you buy a list), you are subject to the consequences of spam...which can get awfully messy...with your ISP, your host provider, and/or the law. Jim
There is no problem with godaddy but they have a famous "spam abuse fee" if you search it on google you'll see some complaints. Jim Guinn points very usefull ideas.
Here are six tips for building your opt-in list. (Not all-inclusive. I'm sure some other DP'ers can contribute points I may leave out.): 1) Free Newsletter – Offering a free newsletter from your website is one of the most common, and effective ways to build an opt-in list. It is also one of the best strategies for building trusting relationships with your list. Pack your newsletter full of useful information, free resources, tips, tools, and anything else your subscriber list will be interested in. Also, be sure to make it fun and add your personality to it. Then your subscribers will enjoy reading it and get to know you at the same time. 2) Make It Easy to Subscribe – To maximize your newsletter sign-ups, you must also have a quick and easy way for people to subscribe to it. The best way to do this is to put a simple form on the top part of the left hand column of your websites home page, and all other pages, if possible. Put a quick sentence or two telling them why your newsletter would benefit them (i.e. freebies, resources, tips, tools, etc…) then have a way for them to add their email address and name below it. This simple form will bring in a lot of your subscriber list. 3) Quality Content – Packing your website full of quality content will bring in a lot of visitors. Many of these visitors will then subscribe to your newsletter. Your list will grow naturally and so will your search engine rankings, which will bring even more visitors who can join your list. It will eventually turn into a list building, money making cycle. 4) Forums – There are literally thousands of forums and discussion boards on the internet where people go to discuss all sorts of things and ask questions. All you have to do is find forums related to your particular business and particpate in the discussion. Most of the forums allow you to put a signature line under your post, which is where you can put a link to your subscription information. Do not spam the forums in any way. Make absolutely certain you offer legitimate posts, with useful information, or you will ruin your reputation in no time. 5) Write Articles – This is well-known technique for establishing yourself as an expert in your field and getting inbound links to your site. Furthermore, it is just as effective for building your opt-in list. All you have to do it put a link to your newsletter subscription in the byline of the article and submit the article to websites, directories, and ezines. I think writing articles is actually one of the best ways to build your list because the readers already see you as an expert. They will think of you as a knowledgeable individual and someone they can trust before they even join your list. Profits will roll in much faster from these subscribers. 6) Write an E-book – Internet marketers are always looking for freebies to give away on their websites, as bonuses for purchases, and to send to their lists. This is a great opportunity for you to build your own list. All you have to do is write an e-book and let other internet marketers give it away. The e-book doesn’t have to be anything too elaborate; you can just make it a collection of your best articles, business tips, and business resources. Of course, you will put links to your newsletter subscription and website. Then, give it away, and watch it turn into a viral list building machine. Hope these help. Jim
Nice tips Jim - rep added I like the idea about the ebook. I always thought of writing an ebook as a freebie for an opt-in list I developed. I never thought about giving it out for other marketers to use. It seems so logical now.
Also keep in mind you don't have to create your own ebooks or products, lots of times you can find free products that people would like you to give away in order to help you build their list, and theirs.
I think I will write my own ebook as I like writing, I currently have a decent amount of free time, and I can use the ebook to promote my site (if others use my ebook the better for me). There are many mini guides around about many sections of the topic, however my aim is to compile the ideas into a 6 part series, and use that to entice people to join my website.
If your like me, I dont want to spend 10 minutes writing a ebook, so I out source my writing to writers. Its cheaper most of the time 10-20 dollar for around 500 words. Also using PPC is a great way to pickup emails with your own op-ins. If your just going to do op-in mailing checkout aweber. If you have the skill or are going to be providing a service host it yourself, because once that person becomes your customer if they opt-in or not you can email them about service updates, etc. Just give them a unsubscribe link in all them email if you do.
Good advice you've received here! However, you can buy opt in list from legitimate list brokers who can provide you with server logs showing that the name in questions opted in. Many of these type email addresses come from sites where you either check or uncheck the box that says "Would you like to receive emails on prodcuts or services related to your interest?" or something along those lines. Although I prefer building my own list, in a pinch I have bought opt in email list before and have received favorable response rates with little, if any, complaints. These list aren't cheap. You won't find them under the Title of "Buy 20,000 email address for $20." TxDon
