Having slaves is not in the spirit of Christianity. Jesus had no other business but to preach love, cure people and deliver the Word of God. Unlike Muhammad who was engaged in wars, politics, women.
Jesus said love your neighbor like yourself. Which means you give them the same righst as the one you have. Slavery is a man's invention. Jesus had NONE. He came to serve, not to be served. This is the Divine.

This forum is Shawns & he has a P&R forum, it's his choice & it gives other a choice to either read it or not depending upon their interest. Myself i don't use the MSN forum much nor do i really want it on DP (useless to me) but others like it & use it, so i just simply don't go there.

hmm, if you read properly my post, it wasnt about you.

ppl in US you wanted to say, I do not have anything negative about muslims and many others dont ;) Because I've seen a lot of good ppl muslims, and I can define them on true muslims & extremist pricks. On the contrary, you and many others mix them, shame, probably your place is flooded with extremists :)

And who said that Thomas Aquinas? Martin Luther? John Calvin?

All these important christian thinkers had no problem with slavery (a practice common in their time). Why do you think you understand the spirit of christianity better than them?

This is not a serious comment. You are trying to escape discussing what is really important. You're looking for a straw by picking up on anyone who calls himself a Christian and put the blame on Jesus' teaching.
I hear answers like yours quite often from muslims, I don't blame them. That's all they know. Never read the New Testament, but make quite a bit of statements about Christianity.
There is nothing impure in Jesus, and His teaching.
You can't find a single thing in His life that you can call immoral or sinful.
He never called for Jihad or killing of others. Can you say the same for your "prophet"? Or now you gonna bring up Bush and tell me how bad Christianity is. Let me open your eyes on this. If one does what Jesus preached he is a Christian. If he doesn't he is not.

    Thomas Aquinas on Slavery

And here's what Paul of Tarsus (the real founder of christianity) has to say:
Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ; not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free. (Ephesians 6:5-8)

    Makes sense.

Here is why. He doesn't want rebelions since a lot of people will die. Rebelions means violence. Christianity is against violence.

Yes, telling slaves to be sincerely obedient to their masters is the sure sign of being anti-slavery.

The internet screwed it up. People make websites on whatever subjects they like. Write freely all kinds of stuff. This must be stopped. It is bad for society. It is against the religion of Bin Bin Bin BLah LaDin. It is time to shut it down once and for all.
