Hey, I came up with a small listo f the advantages and disadvantages of SEO What do you think of these: Advantages: # The traffic that you receive through organic search engine results is free. # Once you have good rankings there will be a large number of visitors coming to your site every day Disadvantages: #Time consuming: To get good results, you have to do a lot of work and need time. Sorry but not much of an article, definately not worth posting about. My main disadvantage is i have 1,000s of page one results which can bring fairly untargeted traffic.
Time consuming oh well don't you wish you can stay and the money comes without any work..... And it's not so time consuming now depends how good you are how many website you manage etc etc
It can also be very expensive without any guarantees. However, it can make for a very positive ROI campaign.
There is a possibility of a high ROI, free traffic, work (yes, but if you can master link-building, it comes fairly quickly - just become obsessed) and the issue of no guarantee. The traffic will remain, you just need to convert the traffic and make sure there is more content for the people to be addicted to and/or be presold by. This especially works well with review sites, free traffic and good link levels for content that is highly valuable.
#Time consuming: Is it like a day job that you have to wait until the end of the month before you get paid?
Time consuming in that you must have other streams of income initially or you can go to the dark side and study black-hat SEM... Sustainability is key, the black arts are for the ones who have perfected automated links. Just make friends and jump into it all. Time is a necessary evil.
I *slightly* agree, although at least it's pointed out to some of the SEO newbies (including me) the rough concepts etc. Thanks for the post
For me, the biggest advantage of SEO was that in the process I learned lots about who was visiting my site, how they were getting there, and what they were looking for. It focused my attention on "traffic", which is another way of saying it focused me on market intelligence. I stayed away from ideas that I thought might eventually be devalued by Google. There is no reason for me to spend time and money on any short-term bump. I prefer to see what naturally attracts visitors and what doesn't. Its all about market research, just like anyone would do who opened a new store in a shopping mall. I have an idea, but I have to respond to the market demands. Rich
If you use SEO techniques on your site and work on it, you will see long lasting results of all your effort. It sure is time consuming, but you reap the fruits of your efforts later.
