That's true banless even Alive, Bigweb and Aviva doesn't have 1 link. Most of them are sitewides too so asking for counting a sitewide as 1 link is like counting 1 needle from a hay stack of links.
Lol, actually i dont own that Directory! Its just a resource that i know of and wanted to share, and i think the submissions are closed for sometime as there have been some updates in the directory, maybe the owner is putting an update!
Very nice work jeff indeed! Glad Sleek Directory and Biz-king Directory were in the mix Ive been trying to get more quality backlinks for them so they were submitted to Aviva Directory about an hour ago thx malcolm
Would be great to see a more diversified backlink framework. Great resource jeff, thanks a 1,000,000 more than 1,000,000 750,000 - 999,999 500,000 - 749,999 300,000 - 499,999 100,000 - 299,999
Well looks like Ask Directory made it to the list with 104K links. Lately I have been more picky on acquiring links and I an targeting quality not quantity, and very rarely buy sitewides, so i was surprised. I agree that domain popularity (where you only count the domains that link to you) is more important than link popularity, but I never found an effective way to get the domain popularity number.
This is going to be another great resource. I am catching up with my mere 65K links for Best Web Directory
Some other people made good comments about this. As well, for a site to keep 60,000 pages indexed, it would need to have some pretty good link equity itself. So, a sitewide from such a large site would probably be extremely good! Yes, you're right, and so the list is just an approximation. However, I do think sitewides have a lot of great benefits, including: (1) increased traffic; (2) increased PR; (3) preventing pages from going supplemental in Google. So, I'm not sure that you can say people who get sitewides are inflating their numbers, as there are legitimate reasons to get them. As well, I don't think it is necessarily all that misleading as there is value to the sitewides. Thanks, added it. And just made some submissions. Added it. But youch: it has a sitewide to "Sex Toy, Dildos, Vibrators." And that link has nothing to do with my delay in replying! ;-) In addition to what other people said, this directory also "nofollows" all links. That would be great if it could be done! However, given the number of links involved, it would be impossible to query that deep into a search engine's database. Only the SEs know the answer. I'm getting about 98,000 backlinks on that, but I know that the number fluctuates regularly. Thanks mate! Good idea. I've added in an additional category. Quality of links is hard to measure, but it's obviously very important. But I think you need both - quality and quantity. Added - thanks!
awesome addition with the extra categories, jeff. it really helps to see and distinguish the movers and i think will help owners set 'goals' geared towards striving for that next level, including myself. Rob
Great work jeff. Thanks, my directory www.cascandra.com looks on 250k-500k list with 251k backlinks. Thanks, Mustafa
Nice list.. Wow - didn't know I had quite that many backinks - just missed out on the the 250,000 to 500,000 category: http://www.domaining.in - 248,956
Another interesting metric would be what directories have the most deep links. Ask Directory Total Backlinks – 104,356 Homepage backlinks – 64,599 Deep Backlinks – 39,757 Deep link Ratio – 38%
Jeff, The real backlinks may differ a lot from this ,as Yahoo's api always shows the real backlinks! I checked Aviva directory's backlinks with Yahoo's api and it showed only Alive directory only-295,150 Aviva directory -99,216 also you may just use www.backlinkwatch.com to find total no of backlinks
