The race was too tight to call among Sochi, Russia; Pyeongchang, South Korea; and Salzburg, Austria. - Reward Russia with its first Winter Olympics? - Take the Games to a new Asian market in South Korea?, Or - Return to the Austrian Alps for the first time in nearly 40 years?
Salzburg is out, so it's now between Sochi & Pyeongchang update: Sochi did it!))) I was almost sure with that kind of budget and support that it would win, time to order tickets j/k
South Korea... That's my guess. Right now Korea's economy is growing rapidly with those massive buildings like the ones planned in Dubai.
i didn't know that until you told me... thanks http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601079&sid=aUQhVavBG6n8&refer=home i guess it is true ^
First Olympic games in Russia since 1980. More countries will participate in this one though- no boycott or stuff like that
That's why it is important to Russia, cos we were a closed country in soviet times. By the 2014 it will be a super ski-resort, Sochi is in South Russia, 5 hours drive from me The main surprise about it is that you can be on the beach and very near you can find snow for skiing, too. Kind of 2 in 1. The prices on real estate are already like in Moscow, and realtors predicted that they will rise by 20% more, people who live there are probably very happy.
Congrats to Sochi, Russia! I am a huge fan of the Olympics and can't wait for them to start! 399 days to go!
And hotels will be opening all over the place! And restaurants, and bars! Now I want the Olympics to come to Michigan! We did get a SuperBowl, so maybe someday it will happen....
