    Hi Guy's,

Im hoping someone may be able to help here!!

Over the last few weeks i have been looking over Ebay for domain names which are for sale. Yesterday i came across at site that had a Google PR of 8 it was being sold as "VERIFIED PR8 DOMAIN NAME WITH BACKLINKS", but in the small print it mentioned "The PR shown may not be genuine"

What are your thoughts on this?? Do you think it sounds a bit fishy?

    Regards
    Tom

Did you check the domain for PR ? Try checking it in Google Toolbar / PR checkers.

You can search if the site has any backlinks
    Google - link:domainname.com
    Yahoo! - linkdomain:domainname.com

    Hi,

    Thanks for the replies!

Ok to start off with i have checked the Google PR and it seems to be vaild, its showing a PR of 8 across about 20 of googles data ctrs.

Additionally there are also 608 backlinks directing to the website. If we were to purchase this domain would you expect the PR to drop all of a sudden?

I have heard that apparently some people can create Fake Google PR, is this the case and how can they do that?

    Tom

DO NOT BUY A DOMAIN ON EBAY!

Why would a reputable seller list a domain on Ebay, rather than Afternic, Moniker, or Sedo.
Because the seller is looking for naive individuals who don't know squat about the web, or desperate people looking for a "deal" of a shortcut.
Premium domains cost money. Plain and Simple,

Agreed with hmansfield never buy a domain on Ebay, especially pagerank domains. I guarantee you its fake just like the 99 out of 100 other ones listed there.
