A major change in SE rankings for "web directory"?? Alive is right up there....

    I was bored at college, so took a little google search.

    I search for web directory on google.co.uk (so search results are different)

    Heres what i saw. Alive directory right up there, ranked 3

    I changed the URL to google.com, and noticed alive had moved up to rank 5 there, and Rob and directory dump had moved up another place to rank 9.

    Interesting....

    Do you think its a result of the current PR update? EG PR snapshot got taken so the new PR is affecting SE positions? Perhaps that means alive gets a PR7 back again or something.

    I've noticed a bit of a shift my webmaster directory has crawled its way to 5th position for the search term 'webmaster directory' and my webmaster blog is in 12th position for the search term 'webmaster blog' all on Google.com. Needless to say my bidding directory isnt too far behind either...

    I should think maybe its something to do with the fast approaching PR update... bring me that PR6 baby, bring me that PR6!!!!

    Hello..

    Not really sure what to think but that could be a possability as i dont rule anything out anymore... Something happened though as i was on page 54 for web directory and now on 14 i think which is a heck off a jump..

    my guess is that google.co.uk and google.com should have used database, however, they do exchange data with eath other. During crawling, either of them use different algorithm so that the crawled results are different.

    Google says that it updates PRs continuously. But it doesn't reveal any changes until the PUBLIC UPDATE, the next one of which is expected in a few weeks.

    Dream Directory is quite a strong directory, it will continue to move up (IMO). :)

    Thats what its all about :) PR is constantly changing, it is the visable PR that we get to see though and this is just a snap shot taken at a specific time (about every 3 months).

    PR and SERPs are two completely different things...

    This could mean that there has been a recent jump in the PR of your directory. But the new PR won't be revealed until the next PUBLIC UPDATE.

    Hey i see amazing changes here on google.com.pk as well, for web directory after google directory i see searchmonster,webdirectory.com and maxlinks in order!!! than comes the strong Alive Directory!!! still wondering how did max links and search monster PR 5 directories beat Alive directory ( the most heavily promoted and targetted for keyword "web directory")

    Thats what i want to know. How do they gain backlinks? I never see them listed in directories, and i never see their links anywhere. Strange
