PageRank isn't everything, and the toolbar PageRank value isn't real time - that PR0 may now have more PageRank than your site, just Google hasn't published it yet.
Maybe it has less relevant content? Also I think Google is doing an update, so the PR 0 may not be PR 0 for long.
PR doesn't have to do that much with your search engine placement. You must first consider the competition for that keyword and how many searches a month it gets. That site that you may have with a PR0 may be targeting a very low competition keyword, so that's why it might easily have better positions that the PR3 keyword. If you provide us with the niches of both of these sites, then we'd be able to give you a better answer.
Checking with PRChecker is ok. However, you must be aware that PR is only a factor of the overall SERP computation. Content relevancy is still the most critical factor.
This isn't unusual at all. PageRank is only one of many factors that Google uses when deciding the order pages are listed in the SERPs. Factors on the page itself, and the text in links pointing to the site are of much greater importance. cheers ~ Denise
PR has nothing to do with rankings Learn this PR is just a number way to many people five to mutch importance to it
Not near as many people as those who under-rate spell checkers. PR is very important, but not in the way that most people believe. It has to do with how the PR was obtained, and you also have to take into account the fact that visible PR is only update every so often. It's the fact that people don't understand how it works that leads them to say it is meaningless or unimportant. -Michael
PR doesn't influence SE rankings very much, otherwise low PR pages would never be in the first page of search results....
There are several possibilities: 1- That Pr0 one is actually a higher pagerank just toolbar is not updated yet. 2- Its content relevancy is much better than yours. 3- It gets strong links with releated anchor texts. 4- Your site is so young (younger than 6-8 months) and still in sandbox.(some people don't believe in it but I strongly believe and can prove it.) ,etc. Remember pagerank is important but it's not everything in seo. There are a lot more both on/off page and site to do. Also are you refering to Pagerank of the domain or the specific page ?
Most people run after PR because: A. They think PR will get them traffic. B. They are interested in boosting the PR of the site to either sell it at a later stage or sell links on it.
It would only be good if it were actually true. There is a direct correlation, just not in the way most people think there is. -Michael
PR is not the only thing that affects SERP's, its just one of the several things that google takes into consideration while deciding the SE rankings. Infact IMO PR has very less to do with your ranking in SE.
That's true. Search for "click here" (an older example) and you will see that a PR8 from adobe.com is first ni the serps, before a PR9 microsoft.com page (6th) and PR10 apple.com page (8th). You can find a greater PR on the third or fourth page too.
