You think perjury and lying to the FBI are minor offenses?

Aren't you the same guy who cheers at minor drug dealers and addicts being sent to prison? So essentially someone gets caught with weed they should go to prison, but lying to FBI and committing perjury should not end in jail time?

    Is that your position?

I'm saying that the person that was the leak, Armitage, wasn't even prosecuted. Libby's crime (obstructing justice) didn't affect any sort of investigation in any meaningful way. The whole incident was a complete waste of taxpayer money. Why waste more time on this? That's my point.

Take a step back from your partisan bandwagon and realize what a tremendous waste of time/money/effort the whole investigation was. The actual leaker, Armitage, wasn't even prosecuted for anything. But the guy who obstructed justice during an investigation to find Armitage is? Does that -really- make any sense to you?

The two aren't really comparable are they, Ferret? Even if you support legalized drugs, random guys on the street are not pharmacists and have no training to be handling out deadly chemicals to people, do they?

You can -try- to compare the two, but you are just jumping through a sad series of intellectual hoops to do so.

umm actually no, perjury and possession of controlled substances and both felonies

They are both criminal offenses, it does not matter if the crime is being committed by some ghetto kid or rich DC guy

But apparently you think someone lying to the court about information related to a criminal investigation is no biggie

Maybe they should just make perjury legal, I mean how important is it have accurate information in witness testimony in our court system.

That's why I tell people to not think for me. When a president uses commutation/pardons, they look at the mitigating factors involved. Libby's crime did not, in the end, affect any criminal investigation. Armitage was never prosecuted, was he? So the original crime, if there was one, wasn't even serious enough to prosecute, yet you think that jailing Libby is the appropriate action here? As I said, get off your partisan horse and realize what an incredible waste of time and money this has been.

it may have been a waste of time and money, but the courts need to be able to punish people for lying to them, severely punish

According to your logic, if the investigation doesn't lead to a criminal conviction then its OK to mislead the investigators?

The end product of an investigation is irrelevant, people need to fear perjury for it work, it needs to have serious consequences. Or why tell the truth to the court, why not just make up whatever helps your or your buddies cases?

Its mind blowing to me , that you thinking locking up black teenagers for small quantities of drugs is good, but locking up someone for misleading federal criminal investigation is not

Please Ferret. You are really trying hard to make a case out of nothing here aren't you?

First, Libby is still being punished. He is getting 2 years probation and a $250,000 fine for what he did. Do you really think that jail time needs to be served here as well? Over a case that didn't amount to anything at all. Do you think that 2 years probation and a $250,000 isn't a "severe consequences"? Only one trying very hard to be partisan would think anyone is getting off scott free here.

I agree. You make a great point. Anyone with a small quantity of dope should also get a $250,000 fine as well, several years of probation too. I think you should hit up your congressman with that idea. And I salute your desire to uphold law enforcement for people who hand out chemicals that kill people.

Unfortunately, you only focused on part of my post, while dismissing the other, to attempt to make your lame point. It's not a reason, it's a fact. And once again, we see which one you take issue with (and why) and which one you do not take issue with. In fact, the same could be said of your reaction to the Mark Foley issue. When learned that Clinton pardoned a democrat that actually did have sex with an underage page, your outrage was absent, as usual. One standard for me, another standard for thee.

Let's see how ferret reacts to assault, when it's conservatives at hand.

The irony of minimum wage outrage

From the stand point of outing the CIA agent, it was known by, her children, her neighbors, and many others not part of the CIA that she was an agent before Scooter mentioned her. So how is the a crime.

    Cheers
