It's time to part with my first foray into Web Design. I set this fun little site up about 18 months ago to practice web design, and was surprised that I actually made quite a bit of money from it using affiliate marketing.

Pet Trees are little bonsai like trees that you attach to your mobile / cell as a charm.

And I get enquirires nearly every week from companies wishing to buy wholesale pet trees from me - I just point them off to the far east, as I'm no wholesaler!

But I have so many other projects on at the moment that I can't give it any time, and hence want to let it go.

Brief Stats:

• First Registered - November 2005

• Registered Until - November 2007

• Host - Streamline - Free transfer to your account

• Pagerank - 2

• Traffic - No webstats, but assume not much

• Revenue - Over £1000 in the runup to both Xmas 2005 and 2006 through Affiliate Links by promoting with Adsense

• Adsense - Only added today, to replace old affiliate banners

It's a fun site, with some unique content - make me an offer, perhaps you can give it a much needed boost

Does it get organic traffic, or do you advertise? If so how much did you spend to generate £1k?

How much is the affiliate payout on a tree?

Some organic, but mainly ppc. I only run adwords in the runup to Xmas, when people are spending a lot online.

Commission depends on the Aff Network you are with, but the idea is to get them to click through to the merchants site & then buy lots of things, not just Pet Trees.

Then could you provide more information about how much you spend on PPC compared to revenue? What % of the £1k is profit?

 

When was this site last maintained? Some of the items that you're trying to sell don't exist anymore?

 

I don't have exact figures, as I never ran it too seriously. But I'd say roughly for every £20 spent on adsense it generated £100 in income. It depends on how good you are with keywords, I've never really looked into it that much

As I said at the top of the page - this site has gone by the by as I've had bigger fish to fry. It doesn't really matter, as whover takes it on would need to put their own affiliate links in anyway

I ve read the thread through again. Do I have to set up an account with an affiliate because all the "buy" links are pointing off site. This question hasnt been answered yet. Please fill me in.

Yes- you would need your own affiliate account with a merchant selling Pet Trees and any other products on the site.
Or you could sell your own products - up to you!
