Starting A Business

I am starting a new website and therefore even starting some sort of company. The thing that I would like to find out from everyone here (that knows what they are talking about) is what are some ways to make money off of my website.

** I am projecting the website to earn 100 000 hits / day within one - two months of its launch. **

What are some good ways to make money and through which programs ?

It greatly depends on what type of site you are interested in making. The two main routes that people generally go are PPC (like adsense, adbrite etc.) and affiliate marketing (clickbank, commission junction etc.)

Find out what way you want to generate income and then research form there.

I see. Well I don't really want to rely on people clicking the advertisements that I have. Is there any other forms of revenue for the website instead of just advertisements (excluding member fees, because this site will be free) ?

There are several ways. One is to sell a product or service. Next is through PPC ads like Google's adsense. The third is to use affiliate sites like Commision Junction or Click Bank. These are just a few ways. Other ways are charging for memberships, sell advertising, and the list can go on. You you need to narrow down what your niche is and what your goals are to determine the best route to take.

Very hard to project something like this unless you are planning on shelling out some major cash to advertise.

Well, if you can actually reach your estimated daily hits then cpm ad networks should perform very well (provided it is US traffic). You could be looking at a minimum revenue of roughly $20 a day.

You would probably be better to monetize through CPM ads if you were attracting that level of unique visits and providing a free service, in terms of allowing you to guarantee your income. It might also be a good idea to experiment with other revenue streams but CPM ads would certainly provide a fixed income.

If you are projecting 100,000 hits a day, it certainly will not be targeted traffic....unless you are a very wealthy man. With that in mind, I would suggest PPC revenue programs to monetize your site.

I like google as a company and do want to use their advertisements, but I don't really want to have to rely on a revenue where I get paid only if people click the ads.
