May have been a bit more interesting if you had tried the same with IE7 and Opera 9 to show us the limits as well as the memory consumption of these 2 browsers - would also make it on the front page of Digg and probably Slashdot as well.

P.S. I think firefox it will be most memory eater ... but I think in IE7 I will not open 266 URL's Anyway I will try !

 

waoh! 266 sites opened in firefox at the same time and still the Memory usage is just 50% which is comparatively low
I would never try such experiments even opening 10 Sites at a time is difficult here

 

I opened 19 once, and firefox didn't lag, but it used up 250mb of VM.

Firefox uses a lot of RAM.

Until 150 sites firefox worked very well, after ~150 I started have some "lag" and at 266 site I cannot switched to another tab ... but the site "currently" opened worked quite well.

Anyway I saved all that sites as "My Home Page" and it takes aprox 10 minutes to load all pages on a 1Mbit shared connection

I usually have 10 tabs open at ALL times.

 

It's not such crazy ... some times you need that

I think if i can remember, i had of around 15-20 open one. But 266 - Wouldn't try

 

So far my record is 144.........but i had to close them as my comp's ram is only 512 ddr

 

I got 10Gb ram, Quad xeon server.. let see how many sites we can open.. guess how many?

 

My record is 300 right now but ... probably you will not open more than 512

266 ......... my computer crashes when i try to open more than 10 tabs in mozilla

Ok .... I tried the same thing in opera ... and I was dissapointed. The tab management is worse in comparasion with Firefox. Anyway it seems "internaly" is working quite well
