What is your opinion on theme sponsorships? Yes - I do run many auctions with wordpress and phpld themes.... I think they are a nice traffic and backlink generator. Some people would say, they are garbage, but when a theme can generate X links per day... can you really say that? What catches my eye are the sales that say "encryption" in them. As far as I can tell, when the footer of the theme is encrypted, it is totally unreadable to the search engines, so are people buying them purely on traffic? The links would not be counted as backlinks, so no ranking is involved.
500 links per day seems like an exaggeration to me. But if you sponsor some nice WordPress theme you could get some a lot of related links. Just think if the template design could fit your niche
I sponsor ALOT of themes and 500 per day is BS, some themes dont even reach 500 downloads lifetime! them some people remove the links, others end up changing themes shortly after... usally only a handful of links show up. Its just an other means of promotion but nothing that "ground breaking" or "great" from my experience.
It was just some numbers Iv edited it so people don't keep commenting on that particular part of the post....... I agree some themes do not turn out well, some people keep your links up for a day, others 2 weeks. But usually when you loose a link a new one appears. Everyone always needs themes. Like I said above 500 was just a number I threw out, but that's not the main topic of the post though!
