Help? Which ASP software to use?

    Hi ASP gurus,

Please advise which is the best assistant coding ASP software, i.e. rather than continuing to code in notepad or other text editor, i would now like a software that makes my coding quickly, sort of like what dream weaver does for HTML, i.e. if i just start writing code, it should check my spelling, check whether the code makes sense, checks database connectivity and spellings, tc.

    I have taken a look at http://www.script-debugger.com/products/scrdebugger/
    http://www.primalscript.com/Editions/Professional/index.asp
    http://www.aspexpress.com/30NewFeatures.asp

all of these are paid and i am prepared to pay, but want to know if anyone wouldn't touch any of these softwares with a barge pole, or whether you would happily recommend any of them, or even any other ASP software i have not mentioned.

    Thanks in advance.

    KHM

I would also agree with ccoonen on Microsoft vbd Express, other free options are.
    1) Eclipse (Open source by IBM)
    2) programmers Notepad

Agreed that visual studio is the way to go. As metioned you can get the express kit for free but you can also get the standard edition for free as well if you just watch a couple of tutorial videos online.

thanks to everyone who responded so fast with the advice needed.
i checked out ecipse and programmers notepad but they dont seem to do comprehensive debugging which is very ASP developers nightmare, howver everyone seems to vote for VS so VS it is.

    Thanks

I have tried dreamweaver when i tried to see if it could help me edit everything quickly but it just seems to be so so so so heavy, just too much.... :)

yeah thats how we all started, we all do the <% and %> but when you want to start 80/20, and are willing to let go of the "i must start it from fresh thing" its the difference between a 10 minute job and 3 hrs of coding pride, well for me anyway

Not sure about classic ASP but Visual Studio 2005 is fantastic for ASP.NET. Then again the Orcas release (next version) which is on the horizon (been using the beta for about a week) is beyond fantastic :)

Hands down Visual Studio 2005 and Expression Web.

Telerik makes some good user controls too that quickly give your users a rich web experience.

Visual Studio 2005 is an absolute.

if you're using .NET visual studio is the way to go, if not too much into coding you might want to try Microsoft Expression Web, we use it when doing design work as the WSIWYG in Visual Studio is not that great. If you're doing classic ASP I would use Frontpage and Visual Interdev... Dreamweaver is a good option too.
