So how come some of the categories have a free listing and some have a pay listing? I got down to the category that I need and the free offer didn't come up.
this is great. congratulations!! btw... which site was it ? and have you seen any change in traffic due to the yahoo listing ?
Yahoo has recenly been adding sites that have never even been suggested/submitted to their directory. They added a few of mine that they found via my AdWords PPC campaigns (how funny is that - should it count as a conversion?). I know that's how they found it because they were listing my AdWords tagged urls
I've found Yahoo's Directory as mysterious as DMOZ. Both have added sites of mine: Without my submitting it. Instantly after I did. Long after I did. Never. Probably depends on the individual editor and workload. Richard
My advice is not to submit an anchor with keywords, but use the official name of your site, editors will also check your whois record. Make sure you submit without any sign of keywords spam. Pick a lower category if it applies more than the main one. If the editors take you seriously as a webmaster and don't look at you like an seo or link spammer, your chances are a lot higher to get in.
ops forgot to check the date! i was browsing through the other topic section to find some good read. i wanted to congratulate for getting listed in the yahoo directory for free... it was really late i had to get ready for my uni so i just did a few quick posts to greet them and left, didnt have the time to check the dates!! anywayz thanks...its been a good lessons not to post the old threads
Very reasonable advice. Sad to say, I've been applying to Yahoo periodically for three years for my totally nonprofit site. I apply following their rules to the letter, but no success so far. Maybe next time.
Probably you are one lucky man on the face of the earth, besides i hope you landed on a high pr category that is what matters more right? BEst of luck anyways!!! P.S: my 1100th Posty
