I just entered 'search' in Google and it seems looks like no.1 in search is... Live.com Check it here
thats pretty funny, the one thing that really threatens google's prominence would be a Window's search engine and it appears they are promoting the very thing that would destroy them.
LOL! Maybe MS employees have finally realised that GoogleBombing is the only way to save their own engine! Actually, Google don't show in the entire 1st page for the word 'search', or 'search engine' which I find bizarre... Nice find! Steve
Google isn't even in the top 10 for search. I don't really see why it matters anyway. Obviously if someone is searching for a search engine they don't want the current search engine in the results.
lol its funny Maybe because Google rely on algorithm for most of the keywords and doesn't hand pick ranks
Sorry, but I don't buy the 'it's not a keyword' stuff. Sure people search for 'search'! People search for everything! People search Google to find Yahoo! Stop thinking like an SEOptimiser, and more like a regular Joe...or my mother, who doesn't know one side of the web from the other. Google's ENTIRE philosophy is about RELEVANCE! So, according to their own algorithm, they aren't as relevant for the terms 'search' or 'search engine' as Live.com Steve
Ofcourse live.com is more relevant here, just compare the two mainpages: URLs live: search.live.com google: google.com Titles live: Live Search google: Google Contents live: has the word Search in a H1 tag on the mainpage google: just has the word search written on the button, but i don't believe that one is picked up by the algorithm. So we could say live.com is just doing better SEO . Sure, Google will miss a few users because of it, but i don't think they're worried too much about it.
What I think is even funnier is if you search G for: best search engine. It returns pages that use the those words, but none are actually SEs never-mind the best SEs. In my view, therein lies the problem with today's search technology. I think that most people who search want answers, not just pages that contain the words. That's especially true when including words like best or worst. If I search for the best coffee maker, I expect to get a list of the best coffee makers. Is my expectation too high? Yes, for today's technology it is. But, most people don't realize how inadequate today's SEs really are. /*tom*/
Tom, You've just exactly summed up my thoughts. Except, is it really too much to expect your 'best coffee maker' query to return a list of the 'best coffee makers'? We live in a blogosphere (sorry for saying the word) now, where the web if full of personal opinion. How difficult is it to aggregate people's thoughts, and compile them? The 'best coffee maker...'? Well, this week, 13832 bloggers said 'Douwe Egberts' I don't know, sounds easy to me! Steve
LOL, maybe only you will search a "search" word on google search.. 99.999% people won't search that keyword.. funny..
Google is being generous. It is typical google sense of humour. LIVE must be feeling lucky And why would google want google to appear on google when you are ion google already BTW, Search.in is number on LIVE.com for search
If you are already using google to...search...then why would they need to show up in their rankings??...justy sayin'
Maybe it shows that Google really lives by it's own algorithm. If Live promoted their site for the keyword "search" more than Google, than like any other term, they will end up on top. #1 in search does not indicate the best site. In fact I often skip the first page or two because it has too many crap sites that just know how to manipulate the results.
Finally! It's like saying I went to Detroit to buy a car and I saw a Toyota parked in front of the GM building. You are already on Google, nuff said. If you are already using the search engine, why does their name have to come up in the serps at all. it's plastered across the top of the page.
