Is it just me or has anyone else that uses hostgator noticed that over the last 3 days there has been a lot of downtime with both site and emails and problems with connecting to sql databases??

There are alot of discussions at webhostingtalk.com about this. I think most would agree with you, that they are going down hill.

For a few years a go I tried to order some hosting solution with them and it worked pretty good, it was just a small website for testing, so I can not say that I really used there service.

well i had 6 weeks of good service from them.

just got this response from them

    Hello,

Your site is hosted on the ***** server. This server had a raid card replacement some hours back and has been stable since. This replacement has resolved all the issues you have been having.

makes me glad i chose not to go with hostgator at the last minute. my friend recently tried to sign up with them and got accused of attempting to defraud them, demanding he send copies of his id and whatnot. it's a shame since i heard they used to be really good

I have about 6 sites hosted with them, and one setup is a semi-dedicated. I have had the semi-dedicated moved to three different servers in the past 3 months and all have had major downtime problems.

There have been over 40 outages on my semi-dedicated server this month alone. The best month I have ever had with them is 24 outages in a month. That's absolutely horrible, especially considering their datacenter is only about 2 hours away from me. The server constantly runs at 80 - 90% Memory usage, and I constantly see the CPU usage steady at 50%+, which is completely insane.

I would highly recommend staying away from hostgator at least for any business purpose. I'm currently switching all of my sites from them, and wont be going back.

Their support is very quick, but they never actually solve a problem. They just find a quick fix and move on.

For anyone using them right now, I recommend signing up with a system like http://www.alertra.com/ for a few months, and see how many times your site goes down.

Well i have canceled my monthly subscription with them and i will be moving all my site over to Weycrest I think i will go for their cpanel reseller 4 account, it seem the best option for me at the moment, i checked out their down time, they experience a couple of hours downtime December last year, but that was all in the last 12 months, seem good too me.

Have 3 sites with hostgator, registered a new domain with hosting almost 48 hours ago, and nothing! The domain is still showing as available, and they have not replied to my emails, they have taken the payment though!

I have been with HostGator for over two years. I have two shared accounts and my sites are on two different servers. They are BY FAR the best hosting company I have ever used. I seldom see my sites down, and if there is a problem, it is usually just a few minutes....NO PROBLEMS at all over the past 3 days as the first poster asked.

    Auch... some bad stuff there.

I've been on liquidweb.com and it has worked fine (although I use dedicated server - so cannot personally recommend their shared plan, no experience on that).

Consider yourself one of the lucky ones then :)

Im now with Weycrest, more expensive than hostgator but worth the cost for their reliability. :D

Well Hostgator has hundreds if not thousands of servers. So on any given day I bet at least one machine is having problems. So I don't think it's lucky about having a good experience it's probably more like unlucky on a bad experience. The ones having issues tend to be the loudest so you never hear about the 10,000 good experiences only the 5 bad.
