    Hi there,

I wonder if someone could help.

When selling digital info products, whats the best and safest way to deliver them?

If they paid thru paypal, how would you be able to make sure that unpaid customers could not access the download page?

    Thx in advance,

    Jab

    Jab,

others may not use this site, but i do and it has worked wonderful. Do a search for Tradebit. They have an automated system all up in place and I think you can still get a free account to start using it to see if you like it.

    i would recommend starting there.

nobody gets any access to any digital files until they pay, and if they try and pay anything than what you have specified for the asking price, they will send you a "Tradebit Payment Check" notification and the scammer will get absolutely nothing.

Any good IPN script should solve your problem.

If you're on the computer a lot, and the files are small, you could always send them as an attachment through email, but then ofcourse, it wouldn't be "instant download".

There are lots of options in terms of creating a unique key for the download which is valid only for a set duration or number of downloads (or both).

You can track the downloads using each key to detect people who are sharing but ultimately there is nothing that can be done about either people redistributing the files after downloading or to protect against chargebacks from people who claim they didnt authorise the payment but these simply have to be built into your business model.

OSCommerce handles digital downloads well. It's been awhile since I used it, but I belive it gave not only a number of downloads option (for example, a paying customer can download the product X times) but also a time period as well (for example, a paying customer has x days to download the product.)

If you're not familiar with OSCommerce, it's an open source ecommerce script that you install on a hosting environment. It's written in PHP and uses a MySQL backend.
