How do i copyright a Domain Name?

I own ImpliWeb.com, so how do i copyright that name "ImpliWeb" so that no one else can register other ImpliWeb related domain names.

For example, i know that only Google can buy Google.tld because they own the name "Google". And if someone else buys it they can sue them and get the name back.

So, what would i need to do to do the same? How do i copyright the name "ImpliWeb"? Also, if i registered ImpliWeb as an official LTD company would that be the same as copyrighting it?

Thanks a lot in advance to those who can help.:D

It sounds like a trademark you're after (copyright is something completely different) - trademarking is not a cheap procedure and you'll probably need to do it through a solicitor.

Ah ok, sorry. I think it is trademark.

If anyone could assist on the steps on how i could do this please let me know. Is there a website that allows me to trademark it online perhaps?

    Thanks.

I don't know why people always insist on a solicitor/accountant. You don't need them at all, and they charge such high rates when you can do it yourself. All you need to do is call you local government/council and tell them your situation, and I think they would be more than happy to help you by sending the relevant forms. From there its pretty self explanatory, the government outlines all the requirements procedures you have to go through, and there is even a website for you to do it online. Save the money you would have spent on a solicitor and use it to develop your business ;)

Somehow acquiring a trademark for the domain name does not prevent others
from registering similar versions of it, especially if it's for an unrelated use.
Google is capable of enforcing their famously unique trademark because of
    their deep pockets.

If you have a unique name like 'ImpliWeb', then you can trademark it and sue anyone who uses it for their own gain. You need money to pursue it legally, but it doesnt mean you dont have that right.

You can win the case if any legal issue arises if your services are different when compared to the services provided by Impliweb.

    Ok thanks for the replies.

Also i was just wondering, say someone registered impliweb.es right now and they made a web hosting/design site similar to mine. Would this be illegal or fine?

Trademarks are a race to the marketplace. The first person to start using the mark in commerce will have superior rights to the name.

As Nike said, just do it. Stop thinking about it, if you want to protect the name, slap a â„¢ on it and start using it in commerce. That will be the cheapest and best protection you can get immediately. If you wish to register the name to get un-contestability, you can do that at anytime later. Your first use, will be when you starting using the name in commerce.
