I don't usually promote my own posts. In fact, I've never before promoted my own blog entry, but I worked especially hard on this one. It's over 1000 words. I hope this blog post is of some help to your SEO efforts. How To Make Google Think You Have An Authority Site I'd like to hear your feedback. Also, feel free to digg, netscape vote, stumble, and/or reddit it. http://digg.com/general_sciences/How_To_Make_Google_Think_You_Have_An_Authority_Site http://tech.netscape.com/story/2007/06/30/how-to-make-google-think-you-have-an-authority-site http://reddit.com/info/22gwx/comments Thanks for reading.
Nice attempt. But actually, i think your post is incorrectly titled. You are dealing with SEO, not about being an authoritative site. Nobody knows even vaguely what Google uses to determine an authoritative site. Many highly ranked sites are not considered authoritative. Your post does deal with SEO and how to rank better on the SERPs. My 2 cents
I have a suspect that it could be simply a matter of; Many backlinks Quality backlinks Backlink anchor text is mainly your domain name
I read it on NBB some time ago, very nice article! Keep up the good job and we're waiting from more great articles on NBB
Excellent article. Gaming the system with keyword keyword keyword just doesn't work anymore. Content is and always will be king. With Latent Semantic Indexing "It's good to be the king".
Thanks for the positive feedback. I recently posted a new blog post on LSI and knowing your industry. Check it out if you have time: If You Know Your Industry, You Won’t Have To Worry About LSI
Well you requested feedback so here it is... Sorry to say everything in the article you have written concerning LSI is incorrect. LSI is a difficult to understand concept and there is no evidence that it is used by Google or any other search engine. In fact there are very good reasons why they would not use LSI at this time, not least the lack of scalability. Several SEOs have pretended to understand LSI and have written about in the past, like Aaron Wall whom you quote. At least Aaron has admitted now that he never knew the scientific definition of LSI. Unfortunately others like Andy Beal who also wrote crap on the subject is not so humble and is busy digging a big hole for himself while arguing with someone who conducts academic research in that area. Maybe you should consider rewriting your article to help put a fork in the prevalent LSI myth rather than offer unintentential support to the “snake oil marketers". - Michael
Michael, there is evidence that Google does validate keyterms by phrases related to them on your site, correct?
More haste less speed.... Apologies I transposed the culprits names.... It should be Andy who recanted and Aaron who is digging the hole - Michael
Hi Mike good question! No direct evidence but with an army of ace PhDs it is probably safe to assume that Google has some kind of semantic component in the algo. A good place to start would be the 6 recent Google patents I list in this article. To get a feel for the future try last months Google Tech Talk. Other clues perhaps in Google's Research Publications. - Michael
Nice article. I think it all does come down to quality content, coupled with strategic use of words. Nicely done. I've dugg it as codingpad.
