I wonder of they still accept sites.
It just take way too long to approve even a quality site.

I submitted a new blog 2 months ago and was approved in 2 weeks, so apparently someone is working over there.

    Approved in 2 weeks? Really?
That's like the fastest approval I've ever heard for DMOZ!

I know. It was all luck, I am taking no credit at all.
You can see that the domain is only registered in April of 2007, and it is listed, (124bpms.com in my sig)
Just so you guys don't think I'm full of shit:)

But it also is not a heavily saturated niche either, and I think that has a lot to do with it.
I think if you have an SEO, or webmaster related site, you will probably wait a long time as I hear that they get thousands of those a day.

Thanks. I just need to take some time to get it complete, and monetize it properly. I appreciate it.

But back to the DMOZ. I have communicated , and listened to a few editors, and they say that a lot of categories are just backlogged with spam sites, and bullsh*t. SEO , and work from home (how to make money online), and a few other of the usual suspects are the biggest.
    You have to be patient.
I heard another editor say that they ban IP addresses for various reasons, and if you submit from one of the banned addresses, they never even see the submissions.
    What does this mean?
Well technically, it would seem that if you are on a shared IP, or a Hub for high speed, and the IP has been baned, that would seem to screw everyone on that address.

I have never had that confirmed, nor denied.

Also, they are looking at content. What will be of value to their readers.
I have to believe that sites that immediately load ad sense above the fold, and before the content, have to give a bad first impression.
I have never had that confirmed or denied, but it makes sense.
DMOZ don;t care about your money, they only care about quality, informative websites...for the most part.
There are exceptions to every rule.

I would see how many sites like yours have been submitted, check out their format, and see if you can follow suit.

If there are already 15,000 sites in that category, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I forgot to ad that when I submitted my site..it was all content. I had no ads or monetization on it at all. It's on a dedicated IP. I have the .net, and .org registered. I registered the domain until 2012. I put a universal translator on it, so it is now picked up by DMOZ powered directories around the world. and as I said, the category is not saturated.
I don't know if any of that , or a combination of all of it is the reason, but that is all that I did, in case that helps anyone.

Do you have troubles with reading instructions? You've posted a DMOZ question in a Search Engine Optimization forum, Dmoz as an SE completely sucks ~ it's a directory!

You best bet is to just forget about it, as 99% of the editors there will tell you to "Submit ONCE and forget about it". Anything more then that is a waste of your time, as once it's in the queue, it's in the queue, adding it again does nothing but keep it there, or maybe push it to the end.

Though, you may wish to answer these questions: [IMG] Why weren't you listed & what category did you submit too?

The main two reasons for a site not getting in are A) An editor has simply not gotten to the submission yet, or B) because the site is not worthy. And I'm guessing that most of the time it's actually the later answer.

It takes lot of time to approve. If you have a gr8 site, there is a strong possibility of getting indexed quickly.

my fastest approval for one of my sites was about 9 weeks. It just depends on the category. Longest is over 5 years, im assuming it was denied lol.
