I'm sure this is dead simple but I'm even simpler as I cannot get my head around it.

In Wordpress how do I write a 301 redirect so that I can change my permalink structure from the default http://www.somesite.com/?p=123 to the seo friendlier /%postname%/ ? without losing the benefit of existing incoming links?

    thats not possible...

but i suggest you to change and put heavy ads on 404.php error page so that you compensate the loss.. :p

    hope this helps!

That looks like it's exactly what I need but I have no idea what to enter as the old permalink structure - can anyone help on that?
