More and more people including politicians, soldiers, lawyers and judges are standing up and speaking against this administration attempts to suppress democracy and the rule of law during the last years. ;)

Great job by the supreme court. I've never been comfortable with the fascists having the legal power to hold us indefinitely without access to legal counsel or a speedy hearing. That's one step away from establishing concentration camps as far as I am concerned.

    I answered you before:

I think, , I am concerned about issues that influence society and I think is against democratic values. I form an opinion and therefore I care but I understand that these are difficult concepts for you to understand since you don't think.

Maybe you think too much, mainly about the rights of assholes, can't you get all high & mighty about something decent for once?

What do you know about democratic values when you can't even accept the government in Iraq instead you pretend they were "installed".

May be I think too much but you certainly think too little.

There is no difference between good people and assholes when it comes to laws and democratic rights. It must include EVERYONE, otherwise is not law and just arbitrary set of rules as enforced by dictators in many places.

I actually like to see a democratic government in Iraq that is elected through controlled and open election but calling a puppet government in an occupied country a democratic government is just a mockery.

Not quite, but I applaud your effort.

Why do you think they will go free if they have access to the legal system?

If the government cannot prove their guilt, then surely they should not have been detained?

And if they are in fact deserving of detainment, and guilty as charged, then don't you have faith in the legal system to see them dealt with properly?

It seems to me that your issue lies with the integrity and capability of the legal system, not access to the charter of rights. Which would put us on the same side, albeit for different reasons.

If they are not allowed access to a fair trial, how can we truly ascertain that they are nice or not? The people who locked them up are the same ones who said we would find WMDs in Iraq.

I'm not too crazy about the idea that any private citizen can be picked up, detained indefinitely and denied access to anyone on the whim of the government.

So you are admitting that you have nothing to say and you are actually too stupid to discuss these questions such as a democratic society, the rights of individual against the government and access to legal system and the limitation of government power to imprison people without due process, right?

I thought so and that is the reason I called your bluff and told you to post it here if you have anything to say. ;)

I'm not too crazy about having these people all released either that's the predicament of the situation, they are not being held "forever" as many have been released.

See this is what it's really about, your worried that any person can be plucked up & taken to Guantanamo Bay yet these people are "unlawful combatants" & "unsavoury" people to even get picked up in the first place, private citizens hardly get picked up by mistake on the way to the mall do they? even though you would be led to believe this.

"Democracy" & "law" worries some people in regard to the detainees but the same people hardly worry about "Democracy" & "law" in any other respect for example has Gworld held an inquiry on DP in regard to Gordon Browns status as the UK prime minister? is that democracy (did the people choose him?)

"Democracy" & "law" seems to only bother some people in regard to some people, for example is Gworld bothered at all with democracy in regard to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez who is currently dismantling democracy in Venezuela & becoming a dictator? no, not a peep. Of all the good causes Gworld could speek up for who are not getting treated fairly or lawfully Gworld instead chooses terrorists & their rights.

It's not my fault you can't understand the dynamics of the thread, responses in response to questions etc

guerilla asked questions a response was given, try to keep up moron;)

And many still are being held, the problem is not how many are being released or hold and for how long. The problem is that in a civilized, democratic countries NO ONE should be imprisoned without charges and access to the legal system.

According to who are they unlawful combatants? Government claims? How about if the government is wrong? How can people defend themselves or do you think that government is never wrong? The term hardly used by you is interesting, are you admitting that some innocents get arrested and tortured and that is OK with you? How about the German guy that was kidnapped and sent to Afghanistan, tortured and then released and is trying to sue U.S. government but this administration is denying him the access to American Judicial system? How many other innocents people who never made it out of secret prisons or are still being detained because government is afraid of scandal?

Isn't better you try to learn about your country government system before coming here and post this type of BS?
UK is not USA, they don't chose a person. In USA the people chose the president, in UK the head of biggest party forms the government and becomes the prime minister. Gordon browns is as democratically elected as Tony Blair or any other prime minister in England history.

Thank you once again for proving that you are a moron who doesn't even know about his own country government system. ;)

I don't feel comfortable with the law not explicitly protecting my freedom.

You might have faith that every politician, policeman, soldier and neighbor won't report you as a terrorist for putting HP Sauce on your eggs, but I do not.

An unjust system begs for abuse. The countries with the best records on human rights and civil liberties typically have strong rule of law in that domain.
