In your case the bandwidth its the measurement of informations uploaded from your site by the visitors. When a visitor is navigting on your site consumes the server's bandwidth. You have a limited amount if bandwidth (the more - the better)

Amount of traffic transmitted from the site

Commonly referred to as the amount of data that can be transferred over a network connection. Bandwidth is normally measured in megabits per second (Mbps). Simple HTML web pages do not require a large amount of bandwidth but full motion video will be viewed better on higher bandwidth.

you need to contact your host about this! they'll probably ask you to pay them something for it!

What bandwidth actually refers to is the SPEED of a certain internet connection. Sadly 99% of the people on the internet use this term incorrectly.

The amount of data transmitted is the TRAFFIC.

i think it's both cause the whole Traffic/Bandwidth story is because each server has a connection with a certain bandwidth and with that bandwidth an X amount of traffic is possible to be transmitted and the Host gives some amount of that to each user. and if we go as the meaning of the term itself it can be true again cause you'll have a band(road or...) with a X GB/MB/... width that you are aloud to use for your transmits!

    Really?

I don't think that that many people can use this terminology incorrectly?

I think bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transmitted, and traffic is the number of visitors. thats it.

Can you rephrase that in proper English?

Bandwidth is how FAST you can transmit something. You can send something with 1 gigabyte per second and still only cause TRAFFIC of 1 megabyte. There is a very small difference that too many people are too stupid to understand.
